yes sir, was in the navy as a corpsman from 69-73 but got out and work on fighter aircraft design teams...I have historical field data from back in the late 50's to current day...my job is to work with the designers to insure the bird is maintainable and readily available for sortie generation...most of the designers will tell you I am a pain in the ass because I evaluate their designs with a critical eye towards access....

Just wanted to let everyone know I was 6 years old in 1969.............

Cool.

In '69 I was 8. My AF career started in 1982.

I loved the F-4. Then the F-15 came along and it was love at first site.

Looks like you were stationed in Washington, Mchord? F-15 is a sweet plane, I also like the A-10

well, neither one of you two are calling me daddy...

hmm, 1969 I was 3. ;)

I grew up next to Fairchild AFB though..when Nixon flew in over my house for Expo '74 it was cls enuf to read the seal on the side.

I also heard some of the early sonic booms rattle my windows..until they outlawed that sort of thing. Still hava SAC jacket. ;)

I tried to get in AF, but my eyes suck.

My grandfather(who raised me with my dad) was a part of the RCMP then RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force)as a mechanic and a salvage man back in the day..the things he taught us and the storys about salvage missions and planes he worked on and the plane shows he brought me to till the day he passed on has me hooked on avation and my daughtor just loves it too

Nice picture Pat. I think I may have seen it before. I've never been up in a jet before..bet it's a lot of fun! There was a video, may have been posted here, of a civilian reporter going up in a fighter and passing out a couple times. I think it was an F-18 but not sure.

My Dad used to fly various helicopters for the Marines. Mainly Hueys but also Cobras and was the Co-Pilot for Marine-One for Carter and Reagan. My Uncle (Dad's brother) flew EA-6Bs, and a few close friends of our family, including the guy that introduced my parents went to flight school with my Father.

I would like to get into the Aviation community but I had a small handful of things that added up to not help me, so I didn't apply..should've anyway I think. Either way, I have a chance to do a lateral transfer after I get my water wings. (Water wings = http://www.myshadowbox.org/IMAGES/Navy/Badgesandpins/swo.jpg )

Just being around military equipment is a rush, always remember, peace through superior fire power. You'll dig the navy whether on the ground, at sea or in the air. Lots to see that non military will not.

1989 TO 1993 HILL AFB, UT
I was in the 729 ACS. A mobile tactical air control(radar) outfit. I knew i was in deep shit when i arrived at that unit because not only was there over 300+ 5 tons, duece and a half's and various other camouflaged heavy equipment parked outside but i was also issued an M-16 almost immediately. We apparently thought we were in the Army.

Found out my ships upcoming schedule..looks like I'll be flying out to meet them across the pond somewhere near the Middle East. Pretty excited about getting deployed, though if possible, I'd like to delay deployment to go to VBSS (Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure) school. That would be some heart pounding work.

VBSS, You don't have to go to school for that, just listen to your Uncle Dick, Kill em all and let god sort em out. Repeat that 3 times and you get an A+ with 2 stars and a smiley face, like this one:lol:
