Jackass customers

I was just giving him the benefit of the doubt since I have only known him a couple of years and thought he may NOT have been heartless before I met him...roflmao

I'm with THP on this one...if you don't like it, then don't shop there...it is their right under business laws to perform their business a way that brings the most profit for it's share-holders...

I agree and that's why I don't shop there however you can't ignore the fact that they must have done something wrongfully against the law because they are being sued by tens of thousands of people and are on the hook for almost a BILLION of dollars!!! You can ignore the facts if you want, but bottom line is there are evil.

One thing you have to understand is Wal Mart hurts both ends of things. The small businesses they compete with and their suppliers. They are known to sign a contract with a company for one price, then when it comes time to renew it, they want to go 20% lower than what they were paying originally and if they don't get what they want, they will pull a companies products. This is part of the reason the "made in the usa" thing that made walmart so popular back in the day is gone. Their business tactics have forced companies to go to other countries to produce items for cheaper. They refuse to pay price increases on items when the economy deems it necessary, like when fuel was so high and drove the price of plastic resins up for many of the products they carry.

That might be going a bit too far, but next time i will walk right on past them.

Sucks that you have wankers like that that you have to deal with. But I have to say I really like Marie Sharps sauce. The only one I've had was the Fiery Hot cause it was at a friends(who ended up giving me the bottle since it was too hot for her). If I bought it I would have gone with one of the hotter ones. I love the carrot flavor in it. At her house I put a bunch of it in a bowl of chicken soup. When I got home, I ended up polishing off the whole bottle in one sitting just putting lots on Triscuits.

I don't know if anyone else has ever tried it but I find Triscuits to be a great vehicle for sauce consumption.

Ok, I just researched this for the past 2 hours. It turns out unless they display their terms at the front enterance (ie: you must show your recipt to get out of this hell hole of a store) or they are a membership only club (ie: Sams Club) they have the right to ask for you recipt. However, you have the right to say no and there is nothing they can do to you. If they do, it's unlawful detainer (completely different than an unlawful retainer which is where you get dental work done outside of the country for cheap)/ citizins arrest in which you can sue the pants off the company.

Now that I have the full knowledge of my rights on the subject behind me, I'm even more dangerous to the recipt nazis....mwahahahahaa :hell:
We tested this out tonight. Went to Walmart to get a few items that make no sense buying them elsewhere (plastic bins, etc.). Started on the way in. Looked for the sign saying they need to check you before leaving, nothing posted anywhere. I proceeded to watch the Indian woman who was the receipt nazi stop every single person who was not of Indian descent. This included a guy who walked into the store and went directly to customer service for a return. She yelled and brought his back to her stand to scan his item (an asian dude) even though he was already on line. We did our shopping and paid for everything. I pushed the wagon and my girl a step or two behind me held the receipts. Usually she makes me show them, but today was a test so she's cool like that. Knowing full well i had no proof of purchase, i slowly meandered to the exit watching who she stopped. She again stopped every person who was not Indian or of brown skin. This is significant as where i live has the highest concentration of Indian immigrants in all of North America. Sure enough, she lets two brown families go immediately ahead of me. I walk out with as much calm confidence (trying to hide my giddy pomposity from this test) and this dummy nearly followed me out the door, "Excuse me! Excuse me!". She didn't leave the building of course and i so wanted her to try and grab me or the cart.

To conclude; the experiment was a success. I spent about $20 and got what i needed plus a little entertainment. My girl was very impressed with the situation as was i. I shall be doing this every time from now on.

Great story BUT I have to take offense with this line.

You sir, have not been to Surrey, BC, Canada.

In my high school graduating class there was a predominance of indian people, primarily sikhs. At least 80% of the school was indian.

I was thinking the exact same thing TB. I have never found Indians to be anything but polite people. Hope I can say the same a year from now.

Well, time to take a broader look.

There are many businesses outside the US and many different management theories related to business. I think what has been described here is not un-american, but typical of the opinion many around the world have of american business philosophy and ethics.

Sadly, this is the model the former governing regime had here in Australia. The walmart described by many other posters in this thread IMO is capitalism in its purest, not marxism.

Capitalism requires a corporation to be there for the benefits of its shareholders, NOT its customers, not it neighbours and certainly not its employees.

There is a shift in corporate teaching however, towards the concept of the Triple Bottom line: Economic, Social and Environmental.Yet in the pursuit of financial gain (capitalism), the other two are sadly lacking.

In this country, we as individuals are responsible for paying our own inclusion to those things described as benefits: pensions and health care. I am glad that my inclusion in such "socialist" and "communist" things are partly funded by the govt and partly by me. Why should my worth as a human be dependent upon my ability to earn an income, or be employed in what is considered "full-time" employment?

I have (what's the term?) gold plated health care because I choose to pay for it. Not because some dude in HR got a good deal from the likes of Blue Cross (insert other health company here), or my company has so many employees.

And my pension is completely self funded in the sense that I am not dependent upon my employer staying in business to pay for my retirement. Something which added to the considerable bailouts of many large US organisations. (Yes, there are lots of other reasons for the bailouts, most more important than that one.)

That being said, I also sure that there are many, many US companies that don't behave in the ways described in this thread.

i agree. it's usually the older Indian folk who are ever buttholes in my experience. The lady in my Walmart fits that mold.

Still do! Hell, I know how to swear in a couple languages where I can't even say hello properly. :(

Honestly, love the food. And one of the absolute most beautiful women I ever met was an indian girl in my high school...

I think it was neat to grow up there.

You take a trip to Beautiful Vancouver here and I will take you on a ride through little India!

Then I will fly out to NJ an you can take me on a tour!

We'll count heads for 30 seconds and see how many turbans we rack up. :)

every walmart I've shopped at (oh yea I could care less about someones gripe against walmart) not one of them ever look at poeples reciepts before leaving!

I got a glance and a smile when uncle and I wheeled out the new fridge and a shop light the other day. We just waved our reciepts at the elderly gal stationed there about 15-20 feet from us, and we walked out.

For all she knew we coulda picked the recipt off the floor as she didn't even read it. Simple reason, were both over 40 and white and so was she. ;)
