Justaguy's 2013 Garden Season

Coming from 2012
http://thehotpepper.com/topic/27752-justaguys-2012-garden-season/page__st__300

Ok life has stabilized and I am finally getting this going.

Back on January 23rd I cleared the back 200
100_2071_zpsbc0ff717.jpg

Then checked on the germ tray I had set up.

2 days ago I was going to drop seed in soil, but noticed a fuzzy mold on the soil. It was left over soil from last year. Never used but in it's bag apparently whatever started growing. I deftly removed 3 inches from the bag before getting the tray ready, however that didn't do the trick. I dumped it all and reloaded then let it get back up to temp.

Today I finally dropped seed and it felt so good. :silenced:

And instead of typing up a list I decided to go the easy route.
100_2078_zps6fddcbc5.jpg

Now the fun begins. I will be putting 95 in ground this year and around 30 in containers of some sort or size. I will have sprouts that will not get one of the available 216 cells that will need a home. I may be mailing some sprouts in tubes straight from the germination tray again this year.

Thanks for stopping by.

So the back 200 is getting taller

The Estate Baskets are stalled out, but surviving. Have got a few Indonesian Chiles off the bottom plants.

The Yellow 7Pots are looking wicked. This a small one.

Seeds from the front bed harvest in 2011 are what I planted out there this year. Sorry for the blur.

Harvest is coming and isolation plants are coming along. Will have a lot of serrano seeds along with a lot of superhots.

PIC1 I know you stop by now and then, I should have you some isolated Bombay Morich seeds and Biker Billys to replace the ones you sent me.

cmpman1974 I am going to isolate the "witches tit" this week to get you fresh seeds.

Joshuap2000 Plenty of Trinidad Scorp Sweet seeds for you.

and you too GA Growhead

Thank you for stopping by.

Your plants are really starting to bush out. That's a prime example of planting inground.....can't beat the progress.
I'm glad you received the Biker seeds.....I started to think they never made it.
Your Fat x Sav cross that I'm growing has pods dangling all over it. I should see some ripe ones soon.

In my glog i have an odd ball TS sweet from the og purchased seeds. One of the three anyway. Other two look perfect. Something to entertain you if you bored.
Harvest soon! Like to hear that! Looking real good Brian!
Your yel 7s do look killer. Mine this year haven't decided on a shape yet.

Ok so I am finally getting some time to piece together an up date on notepad. I will paste it in as I get time, but I know the few minutes here and there won't work for this wonderful little guy.

FLASHBACK

Justaguy said:
Ok so here is a little Caribbean Red Habanero. He got snapped when only 6 inches tall. I assume by a bird eating bugs. Lost a few Nards too, but was able to replace them. This guy was a stub 1/8 of an inch tall with a speck of leaf the size of the head on a straight pin. So I decided to let him go. He is coming with a vengence.
100_2203_zps45245050.jpg

Such thickness must mean big plans
100_2204_zps7ce31781.jpg

Here is what is on the very top. :woohoo:
100_2205_zps0713fb4f.jpg

More to come later. Need some sleep.
I call him "The little Hab that could" and here he is along with his bretheren.
100_2226_zps30b08588.jpg

The stalk is thick and not a lot of branches coming out like the others but up top there has been some pollinating
100_2227_zpsd3663efe.jpg

Here is a side shot to show the complexity of this node.
100_2228_zps8bcb6008.jpg

ok managed that in one sitting now off to bed I go. Have to harvest the Caribbean Red Habs when I get up then in to work. 12 hours tonight and tomorrow I will try to update more. I have harvest pics and plant shots to share. I knew there was a good reason to let the date stamp on on my camera.

Thanks for stopping by.

Brian, That habanero node has a little more room for more buds. That is just insane, great job! Sauces coming soon! I have done a little late season cutting hoping to force more out of my plants in October.

Nice little update Kneppers. That hab is really insane. Usually when I see flowering like that very few actually pollinate. U have mad skillz. Now stop teasing us and give us a real look at the garden  ;)

Ok here is some more. First up a nice close up of another Yellow 7Pot

100_2222_zpsd89596c2.jpg

Then we have "Bucket Row"
Most have already gone through isolation and are now just podding up more and grow the marked pods out.

100_2223_zps1f07d38b.jpg

Here is the back 200
Right to left is:
Biker Billy Jals with 2 Yellow Scorps in back, Serranos with 2 Trinidad Scorp Sweets in back, the mixed extras with 2 Barrackpores in back, and the yellow 7Pots. I know the Bikers and serranos are short, but they just had to flower early. Still producing good enough for my mild needs.

100_2224_zpsc7db3d52.jpg

Hard to see here, but the hangers are podding up on top.
100_2225_zpscaf590c0.jpg

Guess who was the first to put out ripe isolated pods.......

Here is a pod on my Trinidad Scorpions. Seed are from a pound I bought from AJ when he did his big grow
100_2229_zpsfec9b8b0.jpg

Last year I isolated Morougas shooting for more point. I like the results this year

100_2231_zps1a72a0c6.jpg

And finally for today. The front bed which is seed from what I grew there 2 years ago. Two have the yellow pods and 5 have red. Most are going to a local BBQ joint for their house sauce.

Man Brian, that little Hab is coming back with a vengeance! Really great to see it bull itself back.

Those TS Sweets, are they a seasoning pepper, no heat or just a sweeter version of the pepper just with a little more sweetness?

Aren't you getting pretty close to needing to put the cover back on the Back 200? Pulling for y'all for a longer season this year :)

Have a great day!

I didn't know either, but was asked to grow them for Joshua since he had seed but no room. He will soon be getting a box with ripe ones and isolated seed. I was hoping for the flavor with no or little heat, but they instead have just slightly less heat with a tint of sweetness. Still a good heat.
The cover won't go on this year for as long if at all. The electric bill last year made me realize no garden through winter. If it goes on it will be just to prolong a little while until all the other plants have been hung and picked clean.

Interesting, I wonder if they could be crossed with something that might bring out that sweetness and the flavor and reduce the heat. Maybe another seasoning pepper like the Tobago or something.

Yeah, I know how those electric bills go. Sounds like you have a plan though.
Have a great weekend and Labor Day

Great to see an update Brian!  Those Y7s do look pretty gnarly.  I swear, I am always talkin about those Y TS pods that started me on this crazy life track! lol.

But looks like the garden is boomin and nice score on the TS Sweets.  Interesting that they still have a nice kick to em, usually the "sweet" varieties have very little heat and a ton of flavor.

Ok time for some random harvest shots. Date stamps are a good thing here.

Front bed a week ago
100_2233_zpsb7ae4c39.jpg

Saturday's harvest I just processed today
100_2252_zps6adc0756.jpg

100_2253_zps80aadc3d.jpg

Separated just to record some stats since there are 5 throwing reds and 2 throwing yellows out front.
100_2254_zps74eedde5.jpg

That front bed is blowing up.

Tomorrow I will try to get pics of some twins I found posted.

Time to get ready for work.

Now for those twins I found. I normally find 1 or 2 each year, but this year I am up to 10 or 11 so far.

1 stem 2 flowers = 2 pods
