Logchief's 2011 Grow

You are having a lot more luck in Clovis than I am having here . The weather still sucks here and last night we got down to 39. I have already lost one lot of plants this year due to planting out too early and getting hit by frost and hailstorms. Your plants look so healthy.

Wewt! Plants look great and yea that Choc Hab is sexy.

Thanks SRBII, got the choc hab seeds from lazinfat

OMD you're up in the foothills instead of the valley floor, big difference. Do you grow in pots?? Wish I was out of the valley, but the peppers love it this time of year.

The Choco Hab looks suweeeeet  Is that a JRT I see?

Thanks Alph. That's Katie the Rat Terrier, not a Jack Russell. I've heard so many people here complain about their animals getting in their plants, but she could give a $%^&^ less about them, which I'm glad of cause she sure tears the hell out of all her toys but fortunately nothing else.

I had alot of good luck this past winter with a simple cold frame. Just a little clear vinyl, staples and 2x4s and a dark tarp underneath. I didn't do any temp measurements, but it was able to keep several tomatoes viable on the vine for the whole season. With the sunnier days (and some ventilation) it might help boost your plants for the shorter fruiting window in the hills.

I've got friends up in Coarsegold I intend to give some peters and some of my superhots to grow, but I've been holding off until they've got warm enough weather to just throw 'em in dirt and watch 'em fruit. And then eagerly await the phone call from their husbands hiccuping and drooling and moaning in pain

Nice Grow!
BTW, there's sure to be some nurseries in your area, and you can pick up (used) 5 gallon pots very cheaply. I washed and bleached the ones I used last year, but they work great.

Thanks Brad, I picked up load of the #5 pots from a local nursery for $0.50 a piece..

Nice... we crossed our Chihauhau(longhair) with our neighbors Rat Terrier after not finding a suitable mate prior to getting her spade. The one we kept is a RATARD  will eat plants, rocks, almost anything. I miss our JRT :(

Houston, we have pods :woohoo: :woohoo: This is what I came home to after teaching down in SoCal this week.

Not sure whether these pods may be premature and should be kept. These annums (NuMex 6-4 and Jalmundo from CPI) have been growing like weeds. I have 6 left that are still in #1 pots that were potted up early and will go to the #5s this weekend, they have a great root ball on them.

This sure is a hoot.

Your plants look really healthy LC. So far ive managed to kill 25% of my plants trying to harden them off. Luckily i planted ALOT extra assumeing i'd do something newbie like that. Good luck during the season!

Those pods look like the real deal! I'd keep (at least) some of them, for sure. You might have poppers by Memorial Day, and definitely an explosion by the 4th of July. Good going....
