Yes please let's nip the sterotypes about African food, they may not seem offensive to you, but they obviously are too to others. We all know some food stereotypes can be considered racist or offensive so these may be to those who have been to Africa where the butt of these jokes may be in war, poverty, or sickness.
To the misinformed: Africa is a continent. There are many cuisines. I have eaten a lot of Ethiopian food, which is the roots to our very own soul food over here. Collards, and carrots and cabbage on the side that are delicious. Meats that are stewed until they fall off the bone, with all kinds of seasonings. Cooking with the only ingredients they had, and drawing out amazing flavors. That's our soul food/Southern food.
