Marturos 2024 Glog.

It's that time of the year, cold & gloomy outside, & inside the magic is happening. Those little green pepper plants are pushing up
towards the artificial sun. Who came up first? The early Jalapeño, Serrano, & the Sugar Rush Stripy. A little game we play LOL.

This is the best set up we have ever had before. 4 LED grow lights 2 heating mats, room stays at 66 F at night & 74 F during the day.
With 22 varieties & 50 plants we hope to have a real special grow for the 24 season, with a lot of great tasting peppers. 😀

When I joined THP I had just moved from Fluorescents lights to the new LED lights. Outside everything is about the same, it's the indoor
adventure that has changed for the better. Compact high output grow lights, heating mats instead of heating cables without thermostats
it's a lot of fun once again.

This is my first Glog. Welcome to the ride. :welcome:

M, if you like big, fat, spicy pods, you might want to slip that Jalapeño Giant I sent you into your 2025 grow. Since my beloved Biker Billy is no longer, this is my new jalapeño of choice. Excellent pepper.

I think next year I'm going to do Zapotec and Craig's Grande, and if I can get a third one in I'll likely pick up an Early Jalapeno from a local nursery. I've been interested in a trial comparison between Early and Zapotec for some reason.

Also, what happened with the Biker Billy? Is it no longer available?

The Bill Hufnagle aka. Biker Billy Jalapeno is no longer offered from what I understand.
I asked Bill awhile back if I could find seeds for the Biker Billy Jalapeño.

He said he did not know & that that the BB pepper was an F1 Hybrid, so saved seeds would only go so far.
I grew them once & found them good sized for stuffing, but with a milder Jalapeño spice.

Shame, that was a popular Jalapeno.

@Plantguy76 how was the Zapotec as far as productivity? I'm wondering how many I should plan to grow if I want a decent crop from them.
This season wasn't a good Zapotec year for me but the 23 season I had about six plants all was very productive but there not the biggest Jalapeno but super tasty .
I plan to start a cross project next season with Zapotec Jalapeno & Mucho Nacho F1 Hybrid
The long term goal is for a bigger thicker Jalapeno with decent heat & flavor hopefully it will keep that Zapotec Jalapeno flavor

So for 2025 Zapotec. Early & Giant yep there in.
I kept 9 Zapotec plants growing since last year and 6 Jalapeño of store baught Jalapeños. The Jalapeños are really big but not too hot. Tasty but mild. I think I will try my hand at crossing the two. The Zapotec I have is tasty and really hot, but small.
