Melissa77754 2012 Glog

Hey Everyone
icon_smile.gif

So I figured it is about time I start a Grow log of my own and I will do my very best to keep it up to date. With two kiddos and a massive amount of plants my days can be pretty hectic. I grew jalapenos and serranos last season, had a decent harvest considering the small pot size I used. In July I met a nice lady giving away hot pepper seeds to newbies on GW, decided to give them a try, August met Smokemaster through a generous SASBE offer and the rest is history!! lol

I started a batch in late August so I have some "overwinters" if you will, living in SoCal I can grow year round with the right protection from time to time. I started out with a cheap 12'x7' hoop house and when the winds thrashed that I bought two 6x8 with shelving, still the cheaper plastic hot house type but the shelving makes it heavy and the winds don't phase it. I also have a 6x6 indoor tent with a 4 bulb T5 and 2 monster size CFL's. The growth indoors versus out does not even compare, T5's are amazing! Have to thank my bro for giving me that fixture.

I am hoping I didn't bite off more than I can chew being it's my first real season growing super hots mainly. I plan to sell some plants along the way to help fund my pepper growing addiction

My log will be pretty picture heavy which I am sure most will not mind! Enjoy and happy pepper growing to everyone!!

Hmmm...don't get along with the neighbors on either side of me, but great with the rest of the street. None of them like them either. They're the only two original owners on the block. The houses were built back in the 70's so they feel like they own the whole block. Pass the fish please!

Got your pods. Didn't take a pic before I ate the Cantina Yellow. Great pepper! Super sweet and I though mild...gave a little to my son and he said he felt a little burn. would be a great little stuffing pepper, or sliced in a salad. Gotta go pic out what seeds I am gonna throw in there. Hmmmmm.
Thanks again!!!
Shane

Brown podded pepper might be Ethiopian Brown Berebere.
Brown when ripe but has a redish tint inside.
Looks like it,an ANNUUM ...
I just havested a few pods from mine for pure seeds.
That is my guess and I'm sticking to it. :)

Those little Munchkins are gonna be heartbreakers when they get older.
I'll keep a couple Chocolate Drumsticks in the freezer for if they come with you again sometime.
Hot day needs Ice cream...might even keep an extra one for you and the old man. LOL

Smokin starts this weekend/tomorrow.
Got too much stuff that needs to be dried in the freezer.
Make room for other goodies.
Sent you E mails....

Well I would be happy if it turns out to be Ethiopian Berebere, I tried germinating that variety from seeds I got on one of the trains and no luck. So that would be a score for me! :D We will see you soon, ice cream, smoked pods and food. How could we pass that up?!?! :D The lil ones will sure be heartbreakers, going to put momma thru hell I just know it, that's what I get for being a lil booger with my mom growing up! Lol. Just getting to all my messages now, will respond to ur email after.

Looking really good Melissa, the garden is looking beautiful and the Pods are looking tasty. Have a great weekend.

Thanks RM, hope all is well with you! :)

Thanks, Melissa. That one looks more like it yeah  The gnarly yellow bhut looks big also, or is that just me?

I am pretty sure those pods are yellow bhut, tag is faded, but I could be wrong too! Only time will tell, took a few more shots of pods from that plant. The rest aren't as large or crazy looking :) I am open to hear other guesses on what it may be of course ;)

I don't get along with many of the neighbors either, we are the "kids" of the block. At 30, most of the neighbors are much older than us and the woman are not too friendly! lol. The neighbors down wind of us insist on parking in front of our house EVERY day, as if a 3 car garage plus driveway and parking spot directly in front of their house isn't enough! I say let them smell fish s*** just for being jerks! hahah!

Glad you liked the pod, your tolerance is much higher than mine. Not mild to me, but I can still eat them with no problems. Stuffing them is a great idea, I love the flavor. The other pod was one of my "not chocolate habs", what did ya think of that one? Came from this plant.

Everything is looking great as usual Melissa! Love the poddage. That white 7 pot looks kinda like a cleos dragon also, imo. Black scorp tongues and purple bhuts look
Tasty, let me know when you have a couple extras( Like there is such a thing,Lol.) Anyway just wanted to say Hi, and keep up the Great work!

P.S. Jalabanero? sounds intriguing. Keep us posted.

Melissa everything looks great as usual I am excited to see your growing a jalabanero it looks like a heavy producer so far I can not wait to try them in a month or less. I think the one I have is at F3 stage.

Melissa, your plants look gorgeous! Yummy looking pods all over them. That purple bhut is doing great in the root pouch. The pods are HUGE. I'm using root pouches as well and my youngest Naga Morich was potted up into the roots organics soil (the rest are in Happy Frog). The plants love that stuff. Glad to see you are reaping the benefits of it as well. Keep up the excellent work!
