Melissa77754 2012 Glog

Hey Everyone
icon_smile.gif

So I figured it is about time I start a Grow log of my own and I will do my very best to keep it up to date. With two kiddos and a massive amount of plants my days can be pretty hectic. I grew jalapenos and serranos last season, had a decent harvest considering the small pot size I used. In July I met a nice lady giving away hot pepper seeds to newbies on GW, decided to give them a try, August met Smokemaster through a generous SASBE offer and the rest is history!! lol

I started a batch in late August so I have some "overwinters" if you will, living in SoCal I can grow year round with the right protection from time to time. I started out with a cheap 12'x7' hoop house and when the winds thrashed that I bought two 6x8 with shelving, still the cheaper plastic hot house type but the shelving makes it heavy and the winds don't phase it. I also have a 6x6 indoor tent with a 4 bulb T5 and 2 monster size CFL's. The growth indoors versus out does not even compare, T5's are amazing! Have to thank my bro for giving me that fixture.

I am hoping I didn't bite off more than I can chew being it's my first real season growing super hots mainly. I plan to sell some plants along the way to help fund my pepper growing addiction

My log will be pretty picture heavy which I am sure most will not mind! Enjoy and happy pepper growing to everyone!!

;) !

well mysteries are gonna be fun for me to see(mine, yours, and everyone else's!!), though next year will find me tagging the stems.Latest reports have 4 gallons of pods picked yesterday....but they went into the FREEZER!....Oh,well...guess that'll be powder fodder!

That plant from smokemaster is incredible :) Nice of him to give that one to you also. I know what seeds I planted, and generally know which ones I got hooks off of, but have no idea which one didn't make make it and which ones did. As I was potting up from the pellets I forgot to mark them somehow, but it'll be fun playing the guessing game :)
Aaron

Another cool looking pod out front that is unknown.....at the moment :)
IMG_3658.jpg

That's a nice shape, thought it looked like the Scarlet Lantern from Peru but after looking some pictures it's thicker at the end of the pod then in the beginning...
Nice additions too the already huge list :) Can you tell me which Habanero varieties you are now growing? Would love too trade some seeds with you at the end of the season.

damn.. more than what i can chew...

i made my own starter kit tray.... ($5-smart and final cooler) and added about 5 more varieties... some of the bigger plants were from outside that were stunted.. and so i threw them in here to get some nute -steroids...

these were sowed 5/08..im telling ya'll need to get an aero...

got both of them for $75

btw... i had an opportunity to see that snake at smokemasters place... awesome looking plant up close.... btw.. does smoke till have some plants that need a new home??

Maybe in a few months I will think about investing in the aero, way too many other things I want/need! For now I will count on the good ol' sun to germ my seeds, this is the last batch until sept/oct. Not too sure if Smoke has more plants that need a new home? I just know that 7Pot SR was wayyyyy too cool to pass up, and it is less than a year old which is just insane to me! His LED's are the S***!

I agree, mysteries are way fun for me too! I can't blame everything on bad labeling, I am growing out a bunch of aji joe's mixes. So I expected mysteries, part of the fun for me! Tagging the stems is exactly what I was thinking, great minds think alike! AND 4 gallons?! WoW!! Hurry up and get home so you can have some fresh peppers, awesome! ;)

Everyone likes pics of mystery peppers, lucky for you the list of which seeds you started is much smaller! lol. I am growing a bunch from 4 of aji joe's mixes, so the mysteries are expected. Tagging them when I figure it out won't be! haha. Happy Growing Aaron! :)

Once I figure all the mysteries out my list should grow quite a bit, gonna be fun figuring it all out! :) Off the top my head I know I am growing the following habs. Habanero Adalberto, Surinam Hab, Habanero Big Sun, Pink Habanero, , Red Hab, Congo Black, Choc Hab. I know there is more, can't remember them all, growing Aji Joe's lightning mix too which is different habs. Check back with me towards the end of the season, should have a whole lot of seeds, we can set up a trade. Take care!

UPDATE

This Primo is so scary looking! My brother and I were thinking we should send this bad boy off to someone to do a video review. What do you guys think? :D

Is that a blond cucumber ?! Awesome. Mine didn't grow. I only have lemon cukes. Awesome and scary looking pods. Wish mine grew that fast. Then again u have a 5-6 month head start and feed them well :onfire:

Looking great as usual! Just don't send that Primo off to Denniz....he either won't eat it or the vid will only be like 11 seconds! Just bustin your chops man...I know how much they HURT!!! Your beds are dressing up nicely, great finishing touch with the mulch. Pods are looking scary and SHWAEEEET! That Bonnet is loaded down. I'm still battling mottle virus at my place, 10 plants down now.

Good eye Denniz, blonde cuke it is! I have a whole bunch of these, about to pick another 6 or so. Next time you stop by my parents, I will bring you a couple to try out. Last year I grew poona kheera cukes, they were great! Like the lighter cukes, I grew lemon last year too, but they can be pretty seedy so I went with a larger type this year. Next year you should have plenty o'pods at this time, luxury of living in socal. Hopefully we don't get any freaky weather this year.

LOL! Have you tested the Primo yet Shane?? If not I will send it on to you for a video review! :D Denniz will get a purple bhut when done, he can handle that I am sure! Just messing with you Denniz!! :P Sorry to hear about the mottle virus, that sucks big time. I hope you can get it under control. Have you thought about doing a H202 foliar spray to try and combat it? I was reading that you can also feed at the root zone with the h202 to help clean the roots of any bacterial or fungal problem. But the downfall with this is it is not an organic option, meaning it not only kills the bad bacteria but the good as well. But you can always feed with a tea after treatment to add the good stuff back in the soil. Keeping my fingers crossed for you friend, would hate to see this spread and ruin your season! :(

awesome photos and nice crop!

Thank you! :)

Another addition to my garden, picked this plant up at a nursery for $1.49. Pods were way too cool looking to pass up! :)

4rth generation 7 pot SR.
Since the seeds were from when Cardi was still developing 7 pots I think this plant may be the precursor of Faria.
3 generations were bumpy pods with the same shape as this plants pods but this generations pods are smooth.

It's a heavy producer. That plants seeds were put in the setup in late Dec. at the earliest.I think I planted them on new years eve.
I got 3 harvests of about 200 pods out of it before Melissa gave it a new home.
I'd think she can probably double that outside in her garden.
I didn't do anything as far as pollinating buds. She'll have Bees helping out...

Next is SBS Demon Habanero red,SBS Giant red trinidad,SBS Goivy and SBS Cherry moon.

She'll be getting my Charapita and Galopagoense 97450083 as soon as I collect enough pods.
Lots on both plants now...Galopagoense is only about 4ft. X 3ft now.In a 5 gal. hydro setup under LEDs.
Charapeta is about 2ft.X18in.+/-.

Awesome bounty there Melissa. What are you doing with all the peppers?

Thanks Mafwiz! What am I doing with the peppers? We are eating them! lol. My husband and I both love peppers, so they don't last long in my house. :)

yes quite awesome indeed!!

the black scorp tongue has purple flowers :woohoo: :woohoo:

thanks your friend Joe

Thanks Joe! Interesting that yours has purple flowers, mine only have purple around the edges of the flower. Very cool :)

Thanks for posting those pics Mike! That charapita was a great tasting pepper, my brother even liked the flavor. The plant has lost a lot of leaves, but I see new growth so I am not too worried. It never wilted, still under the shade tree.

The orphan was 2 solid inches of roots in the bottom of the container so I didn't think you'd have a problem after seeing that.

It already had tons of little new branches forming.
Once it gets used to soil I think you'll have a Hedge.

I really like the Charapita too but have no room for it...

Chicken is $.99Lb at Vallarta, leg quarters.
Might have to bribe some one into playing Taxi and get 50-100lbs for the smoker.
Maybe start smoking my Manzanos too.
If I can get some smoking wood...
Freezer is too full, gotta downsize pods into powder then make some rubs and powder blends.
There is around 100+ lbs. of just manzanos in there. They are all de seedsd and halved.
Just need smoke drying.8-10 lbs of clean pods makes 1lb. of powder....

Another great harvest, Melissa. Which pods are actually the Biquinho? The small ones at the bottom of the picture maybe? Thought they look different. Mine is just flowering, together with my Chupetinho and Moranquinho
