Melissa77754 2012 Glog

Hey Everyone

So I figured it is about time I start a Grow log of my own and I will do my very best to keep it up to date. With two kiddos and a massive amount of plants my days can be pretty hectic. I grew jalapenos and serranos last season, had a decent harvest considering the small pot size I used. In July I met a nice lady giving away hot pepper seeds to newbies on GW, decided to give them a try, August met Smokemaster through a generous SASBE offer and the rest is history!! lol

I started a batch in late August so I have some "overwinters" if you will, living in SoCal I can grow year round with the right protection from time to time. I started out with a cheap 12'x7' hoop house and when the winds thrashed that I bought two 6x8 with shelving, still the cheaper plastic hot house type but the shelving makes it heavy and the winds don't phase it. I also have a 6x6 indoor tent with a 4 bulb T5 and 2 monster size CFL's. The growth indoors versus out does not even compare, T5's are amazing! Have to thank my bro for giving me that fixture.

I am hoping I didn't bite off more than I can chew being it's my first real season growing super hots mainly. I plan to sell some plants along the way to help fund my pepper growing addiction

Thanks Fernando! The purple bhut is growing so fast right now! Made sure to put it in premium soil with lots of food layered in the pot. I am lucky the weather isn't phasing my plants, because if it was there is nothing I could do about it while working! Happy growing to ya!

My mom has the magic touch I guess!! Ask and you shall receive! This is just today's harvest, been pulling this much 2x per week, but usually too busy to take pics! So here ya go!!

As I was doing my watering this morning I ran in to one of my elusive mantis adults, had wings and all!! Not the greatest pic but he didn't want to stay still for long! lol

Yeah...those pics were missing here for me too. I had the same issue it had to do with too many quoted and emoticons. I fixed it and they showed! I really like the all at once posts! Makes it easier to keep up. I do miss having you around on here more often though. Great pull of many to come! Once they all start to ripen you'll be searching for places to keep them all. Your mystery looks like it has some 7 Pot Primo in it...and maybe Hab??? I dunno, but they're cool looking pods!

Thanks meatfreak!! I can always count on you to analyze my harvests shots!! lol. Just messin with ya! The yellow 7 Lrg and White 7 pot that are loaded with pods are unfortunately at my brother's house.... It's ok though because he shares and mine are now podding up like mad! The first of each ripe pod we tried together, turning him in to a chile head! Actually he has only harvested two ripe yellow 7 lrg, taking their sweet time I tell ya! My potted hand grenade gone red hasn't flowered anymore, just gave it a good feeding today. The in ground one is doing great, pods are much more elongated than the potted one. Later on when it cools down I will take a few pics for you. Hope all is well with you're grow!

Shane the whole "too" many quoted and emoticon crap was working my nerves! lol. I tried fixing it but gave up since I am always short on time. I REALLY miss being on here more often, it's a good stress reliever after long days! But now I get up so early, work for 10 hours and come home to everyone wanting my attention. My 5yr old started Kindergarten on Wednesday and I feel bad getting on while the kids and husband are around! Plus I am dead tired and asleep by 10! Adjustment period.....I know eventually it won't be so hard. Got a case of 5hr energy, time to put them to work! it sure has been nice to come home and see new pods everywhere, crazy to me that the plants are loving the heat! That mystery chinense is pretty cool looking, looks habish but more gnarly with stingers so who knows. I finally have a primo set at my house, and my brother's wilted and died within 24hrs from who knows what? It was a sad sad day since that plant was at leat 3 1/2 tall by 2 ft wide. Mother nature can be a b**** sometimes! I just discovered some grubs in my front yard planter, killed off 4 of my plants! I dug up all the dirt in that area and picked them out one by one, sent the husband for some nematodes and watered them in the next day. I could tell they were getting to others in that bed too, but today I checked and they are dying, only found 2 and let's just say the sucker could barely move! The damage is repairable on the others, that dirt is loaded with alabama jumper and red worms!! Fertile stuff! Off to see what's happening in your world!

One more pic until later today, food shot was in order. Cucumber salsa! Ingredients: Armenian Cucumber, red onion, garlic, Purple Bhut, Tobago Scotch Bonnet, Jamaican Yellow, Biker Billy, Guyana, Red Beefstake tom, unknown green/red striped tom I have growing. Results??? AMAZING!! I need to make this stuff daily!!
