food MikeUSMC: "Bury Me in Smoke"

I actually like the bourbon barrel idea but would like to modify it a bit and put 3 barrels end to end. Of course that would be really expensive right from the start unless a really hot deal was to fall out of the sky. I would think 3 different steel compartments under each barrel for compartmental heat source supply would provide a lot of control. I have someone who can cut and weld the bases. As I type and think this is really sounding intriguing. And worth further consideration.

Walchit, you might wanna think about looking into a UDS. I'm not sure if you're any good w/ power tools or not, but if you can handle a drill and a sander (and a few cans of spray paint), you should look up some UDS "kits." I've seen 55 gallon steel drums on Craigslist for as little as $25.

Scroll down towards the bottom of this link and you'll see what I mean. If you don't count the elbow grease you'd have to put into it, you can probably do it for cheaper than the $265 one you're looking at.

I'm definitely going to build a UDS in the future. I've heard you can get a 24 hour burn time out of one load of charcoal too (provided you build the basket big enough)

What, what?
Thats not really that much. A smoked turkey is one meal even picking the bones clean. 6-7 slabbs of bb ribs is again nothing. I can eat 3-4 slabs myself and call that a meal. and 10lb of pork roast will go all week for sandwiches , dinner cuts and or just snacking. And smokes sauseage will keep for a long time. but it also allows you the opportunity to share some with friends.

Yeah Mike WTF? That shit it totally normal!
