mmcdermott1 Grow List Log 2011

Well here is my grow list and status. I had a smaller home built greenhouse but I am quickly running out of room so I built a 8' long x 2' deep x 4' high one last night. Used reflective 4x8 sheet in back and bottom/sides/top are some r13 insulation that is suppose to have 98% reflectivity. We shall see. As of now, I have 445 seeds planted and/or purchased and 147 germinated seeds. Other than the 2010 Jalapeno, all seeds with a "0" germination have not been planted yet and/or were just planted in the past few day. My favorite new supplier is Trade Winds Fruit. Their seeds are germinating at an unbelievable rate. My current list is....

Rad, I really need to get my plants in the hoophouse but the random 20 degree nights have kept me from doing it. Maybe I'll build another mini hoophouse in my big one to keep more warmth at night.

Your plants are looking great! I want to fill my kitchen with all my plants and see what my women would say...

Well today the wife and I went to the local nursery, first day open. This nursery is HUGE and is the only in the area really. This nursery is a family owned (Amish) business and man do they sell the plants and flowers. Anyway, last year I had talked to the guy about selling bhuts. He had never even heard of. As most nurseries, he sells a variety of peppers but none of the super hot types. Well to my amazement I walk by the peppers and what do I see...a big section of Bhut Jolokia! :)
I started talking to him about my plants and showed him a few pics from my..handy dandy Iphone (you thought I was gonna say notebook didnt ya!). Well, starting next year, I have my seed collection high enough now that I was going to start selling seed. As of now, I more or less have my first customer and a BULK customer. He said to get in touch with him after harvest! Woo hoo!!

Wolf check out my post in the growing peppers section on the dirt I found today. Made right here in Ohio..looks and feels like really good dirt.

MMC good luck with the seed sell this year.. i got to admit.. i saw that soil and immediately searched for it''s equiv here in CT and have found bubcus... so Jealous man.. i got a lot of pots to fill this year. Good luck to you and the yest of the Ohioans out there.

Picture update 4/16/2011.
Wife and I have potted up another 160 plants or so this weekend into new 8" 1 gallon shoes. We have also moved everyone but the babies into the outdoor greenhouse. This is now where they call home. Put a heater in the greenhouse tonight though, suppose to be around 38 degrees. Still have around 150 or so seedlings and smaller plants to pot up but letting them grow a bit more.

Looking very dialed in there, MMC! Plants look extremely happy. That is a LOT of work you accomplished, well done!! And MMC-hothalf glad to get the kitchen back, I'm sure....

The greenhouse is doing them well. :)

Thanks Omri. It for sure has made things easier as well. It wasn't bad taking things inside and outside when we had things in flats but now that everyone is getting individual pots, it takes a long time to take things out for a while then bring back in.
Its also nice because now I can focus in on individual plants and their needs. That is hard to do when they are in a big flat and all overlapping each other.

Mike,
Absolutely fantastic looking Pepper Plants.
They're up there with the best I've ever seen.
Thanks for sharing with us...you obviously love what you do.

Thanks Pepper Joe. Been a lot of work but a lot of fun. If only this darn weather would cooperate. Hopefully your crop is safe. Sounds like you had some nasty weather down that way.
