And the killer harvests just keep on coming! I'm wondering just what you're doing with all those pods? I know I was there 2 seasons ago, and it was a challenge to find good homes for all the goodies ;)

your right there Scott . I look out into the garden and ask myself , why plant so many ? more than i can keep up with . definitely scaling back next season . also dialing back the heat .

And that's my goal too. I love to garden, but it's taking all my time, which is OK to a point. I'm actually making the garden a little bit smaller over the winter to stop my over planting thing. We'll just see how that goes..LOL

OK, here's what she sent, and what we did:

Ladie's State Chili Recipe 2014-semi finals
1 tablespoon cowtown light
3 tablespoons medium hatch
3 tablespoons Dixon
1 tablespoon onion granules
1 tablespoon paprika
3 teaspoons beef granules
Season meat balls with season salt. Boil in beef and or chicken broth. Add fresh pepper.
Boil for 45 minutes. Add 1 can of chicken and beef broth and 8 oz can of tomato sauce.

Use remainder of chili power
Add 1 tablespoon garlic
1 tablespoon cumin
Add 2nd dump when boil 5-6 bubbles
1/4 teaspoon cayenne

#################################################

Here's the recipe we made:

So let me back up, she states to make meatballs. This is because she has a problem with the meat just dissolving.

So what we did different because LB was like "I'm not buying pepper powders when you have a shoebox full"

We doubled the recipe, LB took  out 2.5 lb of chopped meat

Ladie's State Chili Recipe 2014-semi finals
1 tablespoon cowtown light    \ what's that?
3 tablespoons medium hatch  \---2 table spoons Jal powder, 2 tablespoons of thai-cayenne mix----mostly Cayenne
3 tablespoons Dixon              / none added

1 tablespoon onion granules---2 fresh medium onion (we did double the recipe)
1 tablespoon paprika
3 teaspoons beef granules -> subbed a half cube of beef bulion

Season meat balls with season salt. Boil in beef and or chicken broth. Add fresh pepper. We added 8oz. of both chicken and beef broth.
Boil for 45 minutes. Add 1 can of chicken and beef broth and 8 oz can of tomato sauce. 16oz. of tomato sauce.

Use remainder of chili power
Add 1 tablespoon garlic_> added 2 tablespoons of finely chopped garlic (remember we doubled the recipe)
1 tablespoon cumin We added just 1 tablespoon, even though we doubled the recipe
Add 2nd dump when boil 5-6 bubbles \
1/4 teaspoon cayenne                      / Never added anymore.

I hope this is understandable ;) We edited the recipe due to powders on hand.

Some bloody lovely pods! They all look real nasty apart from the Bahamian Goats they just look delicious! If your willing to part with any seeds from these bad boys in the near future I would be dribbling at your door. Am I right in thinking you had Genghis too? I am heading into the two wettest months and its make or break for a lot of my plants we will see how things go! They are all flowering and throwing out pods now. How they will cope with the possible deluge I have no idea, I think I have come to learn that perhaps the best two seasons here are get them finished before the major rains as in July/August and then start a new batch a couple of months before the wet season finishes,t well starting a load more now to test that theory as dry season starts in December. Always a learning curve.

Already pulling out some plants I see. Yup, the fall is coming and I'm starting to plan how and when to pick all tomatoes left and tend to the chili part of the garden after that... About a month left now.. If the weather holds on...

Nice looking pods you got there.

Thanks , yep, getting cooler here , tomatoes are mostly all pulled , the c.p.r.'s had no only 2 green pods on 5 plants , so i yanked them !  the few pods i did get were really nice dark brown with stingers , but  5 plants produced very few pods .

I hear ya 'bout dialing back the number of peppers grown next year, but good luck with that! I got so many seeds from well-meaning pepperheads that it's difficult to do it without disappointing somebody. How much longer do your season have to run Frank?
