New Age Nonsense Friends on Facebook and Real Life

I think you are using alphabetize wrong ... twice now, I let it pass once ...

"You DON'T know anything about my religion or what it's about."

What religion is that? We're all worthy of your sharing it, certainly ...

Here's your f**king river ...

Have you no understanding of hyperbole, allegory, or anything like that? I'm using alphabetize in an unconventional way. You're unable to extrapolate the true meaning of what I'm saying from the text which is a byproduct of language barrier. You are unable to alphabetize what I'm saying, in that sense. I don't feel the need to share my religion with you all anymore than I feel the need to say it's not a cult. If you want to call it a cult, I'll be okay telling you why it's not in short. But, you already know which religion it is. I don't need to answer that.

so, wait ... you think I declared my own narcissistic tendencies, but that i did so without knowing know what gas-lighting is? ...

that's ALSO condescending ... you are so winning here ...

please, continue sharing ... by all means ...

Continue misreading my words. But, to clarify, your own sarcastic declaration of narcissism was not what I posted that for.

Please do, so I can wrap this up w/ a bang!

It wasn't sarcastic, asshole.

So, read more carefully.

Asshole? Isn't that a little bit personal?

Sounds like old age nonsense not differentiated between the new-age nonsense in my book. It's all garbage. You can't sit there and mock ones beliefs and they get your panties in a bunch over your own beliefs. Especially if they are all based off spiritual nonsense.

Ughh. Spirituality is not the issue here. Spirituality is moot. Spirituality has nothing to do with anything. In Judaism, you don't even have to believe in God. You're supposed to figure it out. That's diametrically opposed to cultism. It's your personal responsibility to make sense of things and not play follow the leader. You want to throw us into the cult category?

If I was forced to join some form of religious cult I think I would align with one the older nature based religions like druidism, pagan or animism as long as I could trim out all the nonsensical bs like gods and fairy magic.

One of the better aspects certainly ...

Glad we agree on something. Which takes us back to the original point: cultism. I'll say that religion is not inherently cultic. In order for something to be a cult, I say it has to be based on a leader that serves as the sort of spiritual promulgator; you cannot question him and you do not question him. Questioning him is punishable and discouraged. This promulgator is sort of the theological Rex and bares the ontological truth that no one else has. Judaism doesn't have that. So, I'll strongly argue against classifying it as a cult. That's what I'm arguing against with you. If you're going to throw it into the cult box, you're going to be met with strong opposition. Now, let's shake hands over the internet and admit that I'm right.

That being said, the Chassidim are an odd bunch and I'll just say like this: the oppressed become like their oppressors.

The longer you don't see the elephant in the room - which is that you are explaining Judaism to a fucking Jew ...

I swear, it's like you are underlining my point and adding emphasis to the only point I have made, which is that condescending people don't tend to be all that smart ...

Furthermore, you are attributing errantly something about cults to me, where I never have talked about cults in this thread.

I'm the guy saying you should go home cause your drunk ...

And no, I'm not going to shake your hand or admit anything about you being right ...

Yeah, but, there's a huge fundamental difference between what you seek to compare. It's not that the claim is "our religion is true" and yours isn't; it's that we self admittedly synthesize our own scriptural interpretation to make a legal system work. To exemplify this claim, it would be necessary to point out how we unanimously share the same vowel system; Hebrew is a consonantal language. We could essentially read one verse 30 different ways and they'd all be correct. Collectively, it's not making the claim that "this is what God wants" or "intended" in the writing of scripture. So, when you get all turned off about people snipping themselves, you have to take into account the time and place when these rituals were developed. Moreover, you have to understand how our legal system works and know a thing or two about hermaneutics. A cult, in my book, is any group of people with religious or spiritual underpinnings that blindly follows without asking questions. Any group with a theological Rex is a cult, imo.

News flash ... I can read right-to-left too ...

And I don't hate my snip-job either, BTW!

You can dance around and make apologetic noises regarding the origins of these activities, but the snipping (what a wonderful euphemism for whacking off a slice of extremely sensitive tissue) and bloody chicken waving is STILL GOING ON.  (WTF is it with you Abrahamics and the obsessions over sex and blood?)  Both are acts of wildly irrational barbarism. (Unless it's just a convenient excuse for the Rabbi to suck the kid's bleedding dick.  There we go again - blood and sex!  Wheee! )  I don't know which is worse, blind obedience to ancient pagan ritual or actively choosing, as you seem to imply, to continue such insanity.

As for questioning the status quo , try asking your Rabbi if you can skip the genital mutilation when your kid comes of age.  See how far that goes...

I've got to ask, why did you start this thread in the first place?  You seem quite keen on dishing out disrespect, but get all brittle and butthurt when people return serve.  Maybe you're really just Heckle, Weed, or whatever he's calling himself these days, on a drunken posting rampage?  You two certainly share the same sneering air of superiority.

Sometimes everybody has to suffer a little, for the sake of the totality ... having more circumcision performed globally is functionally like having more vaccination globally ...

This thread lacks only one thing ...

I have seen in the hospital some nasty things going on with men who were not circumcised, i would probably consider this on children i may have some day just for the added hygiene benefit.

Yuuuup ... little boy's aren't all to be trusted re: thorough hygiene and well, mommy or daddy helping them inspect that probably isn't all that appealing either at this point in our current social climate ...

"After you brush your teeth, Mommy needs to check that cul-de-sac, Jimmy!" ... haha, lol ...

Anyway, for all intents and purposes, the jury's still out on that one ... there's valid arguments on both sides ...

Maybe it's just to help men with small penises get sympathy sex ... "I'm a victim ... of an abusive rabbi!" ...

Sympathy sex is real.

I'm snipped in both aspects. I don't regret it, growing up my best friend wasn't snipped and it was a big source of anxiety for him. I always suspected he was gay because the way he would push girls away. Turned out he was just embarrassed because he wasn't snipped. Though from my porn experience it seems the unsnipped are usually packing the larger tool of the trade. Could just be coincidence but proof is in the sploodge pudding.
