Noah's Ark?

I was watching the news and the Australian flood was shown again. Are all Aussies here and especially the Queenslanders fine? How are your families? Your pets? Your peppers? Any crocodiles or poisonous snakes in your yard?

I'm pretty lucky as I'm in brisbane, but I feel for the folks out west (around St George) and those stuck up North... Just heard that a town only 3 hours from us has just started to go under, with the worst to come over the next few days :(

They say this could be the worst summer ever for Qld with more cyclones to come, and a possible repeat of the 1974 Brisbane floods.. chillis are suffering as there's too much water around, and when the sun comes out, it's so hot that it knocks them around?! Ya can't win!

Here's a quick clip of one of the severe thunderstorms we had a few weeks back, from out my backyard

Wow.... now its our turn in Brisbane :( 13 people dead, plenty missing and the worst is still a couple of days away..

tooninoz...WOW! All the cars floating off down the canal- and there's more to come :(

Things are not good for a lot of mates down under, and Candice (Wildfire Chilli Australia) has stepped up to coordinate some fund raising for those hard hit areas. Here's a link to what she has going on, hopefully folks can keep an eye out on it and help our Aussie friends if they can.

Hey all, thanks for the concern. I am safe and well at the moment and seeking refuge at my mum's house. I live about 200-300 metres from the Brisbane river in a bottom floor apartment and was advised at about 10am this morning to evacuate. I set off to my mum's at around midday and at which point the water had not broken the bank of the river where I was but was very close to doing so and is still rising rapidly. 4pm now and haven't heard any reports of flooding in my suburb but not holding my breath.... especially with the prediction of worse to come over the next day or so. Needless to say, with the waters still rising rapidly, I am not looking forward to returning home when the floods ease. :\

Nothing to do now but to wait it out and pray for the best.

Thanks for the heads up SalsaLady - its a great idea.

Hey Gas, today is supposed to be D-Day :( If things turn out poorly for you, give me a hoy if you need a spare set of hands. I'm not getting any work this week and happy to help.

Hope both of you make out alright. I've been following this in N. America & on the BBC.

The clean-up efforts of Brisbanites have been phenomenal, with 10,000+ turning out daily to perform some of the dirtiest tasks imaginable. Unfortunately, it looks as tho' those in Vic are now copping it.
I got word that a fellow Newcastle Utd supporter in Victoria has had his house inundated and is stuck in an evacuation centre... it would be easier to list areas of Australia that are NOT flooded than to list the ones that were!?

On a lighter note, a journo from the Chronicle in England contacted the admin of a site for Oz based supporters of NUFC seeking any toon fans affected by flood. The admins passed my details on, and this is the result. Wish I'd sent a better pic tho! Candice - I just sent you this on FB. haha
