OCD 2015

Hey everbody. Well I'm still working out of town and have been living in my 17ft travel trailer for the past 5 months. I've got some Jigsaw's soaking and when I get back home this weekend I'll start some more.
Tepin x Lemons are on the list. Thanks to Mike (smileyguy697) for this fantastic pepper. I've got some others on my mind as well, just can't decide. I will be doing SIP and raised beds again this year. Hope all is well out there in the community. Here's to 2015 grow and good luck to you all.

Just a quick update. My Aerogarden seems to be doing ok. It's been 23 days since I planted seeds. I've been getting leaf curl a little bit. They keep on getting bigger by the day, so I'm not going to worry about it. The plants in the garage are adjusting well since they've been potted up. I was at a local nursery, when something caught my eye. I new exactly what it was from a distance. Tepin's!!! I couldn't believe it. $2.49 a 4pack. They have quite a few different varieties you don't see anywhere else. Come to find out, the managers are chile heads. Didn't get to meet them. Maybe another time. They had some 100ft hoop houses. I took notes. I hope to get working on mine soon.

I'd bet you could make your own vinegar based Tepin hot sauce that would match that commercial sauce.  I like vinegar based pepper sauces.  Fruit based, not so much.
No doubt. I like fruit based as a dipping sauce. Love Heart Breaking Dawns stuff for sautéed shrimp.

I was just browsing through one of my favorite grower's (Jim Duffy / Refining Fire Chiles) Facebook page and these caught my eye. Some interesting and beautiful pods. I personally like his products. His seeds have always come out true and good germ rates. The plants I grew last year, was the the biggest and most prolific of them all. Ordered some plants this year. Didn't have enough time for seed. Plants showed up in perfect condition. Anyways here's some pics.

Jay's Ghost Scorpions, I presume?

I grew these from Jim's seeds tha last two years, probably the best producing plants of all the varieties I grew, with possibly the exception of Red Bhut, also Jim's seed.

This year, I am only doing one Jay's Ghost Scorpion. One from an Orange/Red pod that grew on a Peach plant. Maybe I can get Orange Ghost Scorpions.

That would be cool. All the seeds I grew from him last year were heavy producers as well. This year I have plants I ordered from him. Jigsaw's and Brain Strain's! I'm very excited about the Jigsaw's. My favorite super so far.

Looking good Chuck, looks like your season is turning out to be a good one. Great score on the tepin's, I agree with RJ, great pickling pepper. Also wanted to thank you for your care package I received last night. The seeds are much appreciated, great variety and most I don't have.  I couldn't resist and decided to give a try on the reaper puree just now, dipped a toothpick in and gave it a try....WOW!! this stuff is gold. Heats there of course but the flavor is something that makes you wanna grab a spoon. :D

Thanks again!!

Just got laid off work Thursday. Will be looking for more work next week. Until then keeping my mind busy Started setting up my ghetto grow room today. Will finish it tomorrow. With temps just above freezing at night and having to pot up in the next day or so, drastic times calls for drastic measures. I swear, the growroom and hoophouse will get built this year. My lady says don't forget to paint the house too. MOA's in Aerogarden are doing really well at 15 days in. Snowed again today. Where the heck is Spring! Can't wait to pot up, add nutes, and get some soil mixed for the raised beds and SIP's. Maybe just maybe I'll make a couple hoops.

What kind of Aerogarden is that?

Chuck,

Nice to see your Glog.   Been getting caught up.   Interesting t see that you found plants that still had live roots from last years crop.  I will be interested in seeing how that 7-pot does this year.  Keep us posted.

Liked those 6 sided pots, sure allows you to put them close together.

Sorry about the job, but who knows what the heck the future has for us.  Possibly better!

Take care
Bill

No problem buddy. The stuff does look good. I hope you can use it to make some sauce or something. A spoon full? Ummm...Oh yeah! That's right. A spoon full of Reaper Purée makes the medicine go down, the medicine go down, the medicine go down. LOL. I'm going to empty the freezer this week and make some powder. I will hit you up when I'm done.

Nice hoop house & the pod pics are killin' me. Good stuff.
I like that hoophouse. I hope to have mine built soon. When I do I'll take plenty of pics and post it in the tech section. Those are Duffy's pods. Just thought I would share some podporn. Everyone watches podporn. LOL

Thanks Bill. I've been trying to play catch up on my grow. It's starting to come together. Almost have my soil finished. Mixed last year's soil with RCW. I'll add a couple more things and we will be ready. I picked up som tea supply's the other day. You know what that means. IT'S ALIVE!! (In a sinister voice).

Thanks for stopping by y'all.

Chuck

One of the plants in my Aerogarden had curled leafs as well. Mine isn't filled up yet so I'm assuming it's because of the extra nutes. Everything I have is SUPER dark green.

Hey Scott. Mine are starting to green up. I was afraid of over doing it and didn't add enough. Just added a tad bit more and plants are starting to respond. I had a aquarium pump laying around so added it to keep the water cool. Guy I know that is into hydro said, with the pump running in there it will heat up the water quite a bit depending how much you run it. I'm running mine 1hr on 1hr off. Lights 15hrs a day. Im still new to this hydro deal, so just experimenting for now. Once I get a full understanding of this I will build something bigger scale. I was going to ask you if you ever found some Tepin x Lemon seeds. I seen in your profile you were looking. If you still need some PM me.

Do you keep your plants in that all season?
No. I'm going to pull them out and try to put them in soil. I would like to grow 1 plant in it and see how it goes. Maybe keep it pruned down and see if I can Bonchi it.

Cool pods Chuck! I especially love the basket of peach bhuts. And the hoop house. Happy growin' bud!
Thanks for stopping by Adam.

Looking good Chuck... and scoring some Tepin chiles, sweet! You'll love having a low row cover or hoophouse to grow in where you live.. Actually, your climate is pretty much like my own, but with a bit more intense sun and less humidity. you can use black plastic for mulch inside, but you might like to check out Infrared Transparent Plastic Mulch like this stuff from Johnny's Seeds in Maine...   http://www.johnnyseeds.com/p-5448-solar-mulch-4-x-50.aspx

thanks for the link Rick. I here you talking about plastic mulch and didn't quite understand. Well the Aerogarden has been up and running for 30 days now. I can't believe the growth rate. Here's some pics of the Aerogarden and the plants in the garage. Hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a great weekend. Went up to the hills and rented a cabin for a couple nights.
