Had some extra money and decided to support this site and get a membership. Now its Glog Time. View attachment 9515 This is what I will be growing. I apologize in advance. This is the first time I have done this pictures and posts thing.
That sucks Mikey. I hope they survived. Just some rain last night. My plastic helped. I think I'm going to leave it on all day today and see if I can get some heat in the ground.jedisushi06 said:Snow on my car down here this morning, i know the my insulation blanket got wet, hope the plants under it survived, supposed to be 25 tonight. Nice shortcake!
Thanks Mikey. We need to get the gardens going. Getting anxious looking at everyone else's gardens. Especially Scott's. LOL. That is going to be fantastic if we get some good weather. Everything needs to come out of the garage and get some real air and light.jedisushi06 said:sweet yeah it's supposed to warm up here starting friday!
Thanks Essegi. I like to get out and hike. Better than the gym. I'm trying to stay healthy. Lost 70lbs this last year. Thanks for reading.Essegi said:All is looking great, plants and food too! Loving hiking photos!
Thanks Jeff. I think they'll be fine. I hope. It needs to go away so I can play catch up. Maybe we will get a trade off and get a late fall. That is something to hope for.Jeff H said:Hope all the plants survive the cold snap. Sucks this late in the year.
Nice shortcake too.
Thanks Paul for the tips. Yeah those are pieces of plastic culvert. They throw them out at work some times. I started taking them. I took a demo saw and cut grooves in between the ribs, all the way around for drainage and air. I added a nursery pot in the bottom. Going to try some peppers in a couple this year. Thanks for reading.PaulG said:Hey, Chuck, it looks like your raised bed plants made it through the cold snap in good
form. Nice save. Looks like your should be good to go weather-wise, but I know you
can get a cold snap anytime there. Looks like you need to always be ready for cold.
Bonnie uses Water Towers around her plants, or turns a pot upside down over them
on cold nights, and it seems to work pretty well as long as you don't forget to remove
the pots the next morning!
Are those sections of pipe you are using for planters? Awesome. Gives me some ideas!
Your array of plants in the first photo look great.
Oh, and I'm coming over for dinner.
Thanks Jamison. Hoping my plants come out half as nice as yours. They are shooting out flowers left and right. I need to get some growth. I think the blossoms will drop with this weather. 84 today 30mph gusts. Thanks for reading.Jamison said:Damn man don't know how I missed this Glog! Plants look great. Awesome job on the AACT! I still haven't made a batch this year. I'll grab a chair and stick around for the duration!
Thanks Scott. That link is bookmarked. Still trying to educate myself. I have met a couple that is growing around 400 strawberry plants and other veggies. They will have a produce stand and a upick. They have invited me out to their place to check it out and exchange ideas. I will paste that link here again for anybody that missed it. Glad the plants made it through the cold.
Love the foodies, I can't wait until we get decent Strawberry harvests. Maybe next year
Plants and pics look great too!
And like Paul said cool idea using the pipe!
It was windy today. Calm now. A little cloud cover. Smelled like smoke all day. Must be fire somewhere. The weather is looking good.jedisushi06 said:How's the weather up there? It's windy here and cloudy!
Glad you like it. Just sharing the knowledge. That's what I love about this community. Time to make another batch this week. I think it's getting better each time. Have a good week.PaulG said:Great link to the ACT, Chuck!
OCD Chilehead said:Have been busy working I the yard all day. Had to go to the landfill. Stacked a couple cords of wood so I could get my travel trailer out. Moved the plants outside today. WhooHoo. Planted some tomatoes, zucchini, thyme, and a variety of basil. Also made some soil, dinner and dessert. I'll feel it in the morning. Still have more to do tomorrow. Monday comes to soon.

Went for the shortcake again. This time I added cranberry juice, strawberries, and some of my raspberry/blackberry syrup. The best batch yet.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
Haha. Thanks RJ. The plants should bounce back as soon as they harden off. I made my first, and I'm sure not last mistake of the year and over watered. Like to cook, grow, and eat good food. Thanks for reading.Roguejim said:Can I be honest? Your plants are stunning...but, I want that pasta, bread, and short cake! I love good food, man!
