Looking better and better with every post, you are going to be up to your eyeballs in peppers once production starts! You even took over the flower pots....Love it! Is this your first yeat with the wick system or have you had success in the past? I am still really diggin those corrugated pipes you got the tomatoes in, that is a genius idea. Keep up the good work over there buddy!
Yeah first year with SIP's. The key seems to be the right soil mix. I think I have got it. I will need to add nutes. I decided not to add time release nutes. Will add plastic to top in a week. Going to top water until they get adjusted, and grow some roots. Need to get some life in the soil. Thanks for stopping in.

Glad to see your outdoor season is finally underway Chuck. Good luck with the SIP experiment and the rest!
Thanks Rick. Having a great time potting up. Planted two more Reapers in a tote tonight. Two more tomorrow.

Picked up a bag of casting for next brew.

Is everything doing well on your end?

I'm playing catchup here and like what I see!

Plants look great and they're outside!

Wishing you continued success!
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. Was kinda worried about them being in full sun today. But everything looked good. I am undecided on structure like yours with shade cloth, or metal hoop house. I need to research the price difference and consider my long term plans. Don't want to spend money twice. If you don't mind me asking? Where did you buy your shade cloth?

I got it at:

Decent prices and they custom build for you. I'm on year 3 with the 20x40'. It ran around $160. Anything past 5 years will be a blessing. The hoop house may serve you better, it can double as a greenhouse when it's cooler.

that's what i want to build when i buy a house, a hoop so i can put plants out early, and then put shade cloth up in the heat of the summer.

Tea looks good Carl.  I have zero doubt that your plants enjoyed it.
Thanks Brian. Its Chuck but I've been called worse.LOL. They seem to be responding to the tea. Trying to get the mix alive. Thanks for stopping in.

Thanks Scott. That site is pretty cool. The shade cloth is pretty cheap considering. Did you get tape edges? Do you remember what % you are using? Sorry for all the questions.

That's the route I'm probably going. That just meens more time and money. I seem to be a little short in both those departments right now.
Here is some pics from tonight. All the plants are planted. For now. Put the annuums in #5s. I might put them to ground in a few weeks.

Feels good to be done for now.

The plants look healthy and happy!

Man... by the look of your last pic you're gonna pretty much fill your backyard with peppers! Good job with the AACT... I think the froth you see on top is from proteins in the mix from soil-dwelling microbes. If you have a compost pile cooking, you might try adding a scoop or so of that to the tea.
   Keep up the good work!

Had a little catching up to do. Everything looks good. AACT looks good and plants all look healthy.

In that last pic, the lawnmower looks like it won't be used that much this year with the back yard full of peppers. It looks sad and neglected at the top of the pic.

Thanks Rick. Have been adding humus. Will try some compost.

Been busy making soil mix and planting. This weekend the backyard gets prepped for hoop house. Need to lay out ground fabric. The weeds were waist high last weekend.

Well crap!  Not sure how I messed that up, but please accept my apologies.   :banghead:
No need to apologize. I look at so many glogs it gets confusing sometimes. Especially when I'm jumping around topics.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Chuck,

I got the 30% black with grommets and the sewn in tape.

Reading what you and Mikey are saying about the temps; that's crazy, low lows and fairly warm highs. Certainly makes for a challenge!

Plants are looking fine and hollering plant me! ;)

What can I say I'm a dirt guy...

Have a great weekend!
