Organic PC-1 Seeds

I'm growing Deep Water Culture Hydroponic under T-5 fluorescent lights with all Organic nutrients. That picture is one plant.

If anyone wants to send a few seeds and wait until after I grow them, I'll replace them with pods and seeds tenfold. You can tell I'll have a ton of seeds of whatever you send me. We know how to grow in Arcata. ;)
well done RedwoodIsland,
i may have missed this ,but could you tell me the mixing ratios for the hydroponic nutrient you are useing?
the bush looks happy,
does the plant pollenate easily or do you help it some?

What type of organic nutrients used? Does the plant pollinate easily?
pablo

The first five to ten blooms I hand pollinated. When it exploded to over 100 blooms, shaking the plant every morning did the trick for pollination. Now I'm just wishing it would stop.

I used Pure Blend Pro Grow (3-1.5-4) Ratios are a closely guarded secret ;)
Follow label directions for nutrients and error on the light side. Always dilute before adding and you should be good.
Remember, your peppers will grow with only water and sun, so don't overdo the nutrients. Feed them when they speak to you and keep the airstone bubbling.
Step 1: DWC
Step 2: -----
Step 3: Profit :)

RWI...I am using the pro grow, pro bloom and liquid karma for my plants in containers/soil (depending on whether I am wanting to start producing or not) and it has made my Nagas, Red Savinas, and cutback orange hab berry berry prolific...

With that combo you cannot fail. Do you use filtered water?

Next step: get rid of the soil. Soil is so 1990's N Stuff

Like jumping off a cliff: Very scary, but very rewarding.

It is hard to let go of soil, but once you do...

I think the botanicare products are great also. Glad you agree.

I choose to grow in soil because I like it. I am going to start using filtered water though as you mentioned here and in another thread.

My plants may not do as well as other growers using other methods do, but I am happy. Differences of likes/dislikes is what makes our diverse culture a great place. The knowledge is there, but you don't have to use it if you don't want to.

ugg soil good

dirt, water & sunshine is all thats needed

if you want to baby the plants you'll soon wind up with something thats seeds require maximum upkeep.

I prefer to give them the basics & let the plant develop to the environment.

of course having a 12 month growing season helps in this.

i tend to agree, but hydro is pretty cool.

Especially to those of us who have a winter and would go nuts otherwise without growing anything -- All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy

Don't get me wrong...I am not putting down Hydro growers...the technique seems to have limitless uses...

I just like getting my hands dirty like my grandpa and grandma did...oh how I yearn for those long ago but not forgotten days...

same for me. i wish i still had pics of our old gardening. It dawned on me the other day that i've done some form of gardening my whole life. Only now is when i'm interested in it as more than a passing fancy.

So...are aerogardens considered hydro??

Depends... Did you put potting soil in it? ;)

Yes, they are a type of Deep Water Culture.
An ok intro for people who can't grow anything well (My grandmother). The nutrients supplied don't list ingredients, so good luck.

Kind of like a novelty intro to hydroponics.

With an indoor garden I too have a 12 month growing season.

I started Hydroponic growing after moving to an area that gets a hard freeze (-3C) and is the foggiest in the nation. Even our airport was built to teach WW2 pilots to land in 0 visibility conditions. Before that I always used soil outdoors. I miss the sun.

Water, nutrients and photons are enough. Plants don't need soil. If you live in an area that supports outdoor growth, consider yourself lucky.

Just harvesting my first flush of seeds. I am sending the first requests out in a couple of days. Any more takers? Only the PC-1 are ready now, but they are free, trades preferred, but not required.
