P-Son's "mild to wild" Manscaping prohibited!!

After a couple nudging pm's it is time to get things rolling...well, get a list situated atleast. I won't be starting my seeds until March 1 this season. This list is subject to change, and I'm betting it will before I'm done typing. My two goals this season are 1.) Take less pics and better quality 2.)Sow later and achieve similar yields. My germination techniques and set up are not inspirational or extravagant so the bulk of my updates will be after early june plant out. Fert apllication and medium are changing a tiny bit but staying simple with it.

c lanceolatum.... Holy Grail stuff!!! After 47 days I sowed my last couple seeds in a last ditch effort. 9 or 10 days later and this guy hooks. I'm over the moon...that is until I see the seed hull hanging on. Really?? So what do you do when only 1 sprouts out of your 7 seeds and it has a helmet head? Surgery ensued! I weaseled the pinhead sized casing off and everything looked nice and green but in a few hours it started looking rough. Fingers crossed for now. Excuse the cell phone picture here.

What is the source of the "NOT" Orange Primo?  I saw that yours and Jamie's look pretty much identical.  The Yellow TS that I have grown are typically much more blocky, and the ButchTs are more like the ones you got...  Interesting nonetheless.

No, it is weird when you dream about it....like I did last night. Talk about a "wake-up" call....
I bought seeds from Peter at Semillas. I shouldn't say it is a scorpion, definitely not a primo. They pod shapes and sizes are all over the place. The pods that are Primo sized, are too smooth. The pods that have a Primo texture, are way too big. It has the scent and flavor of a yellow super.

Beautiful galapagoense and I certainly like that manzano as well
Both are very cool species!

Not Black Naga and Douglah x Indian Carbon cross look real nice.  Congrats on the C. galapagoense too, looks like a very healthy plant.

I have a couple of surprise crosses that are looking real badass, and it seems like a good number of people around here do as well.  I keep thinking about the viability of referring to the original crosses when things keep getting so mixed up...
Hey Charles, I just tried to make a few crosses last year to see if I could do it. That is the only one that did! This year I want to try some interspecific stuff with a couple wilds, and frutescens. For the most part though, I have been isolating for seed. I don't like surprises.

Holy crap John you have some great pod shapes in there.  And as always, great photo skills!
Some really cool ones on the plants, but very young. By next week some of my more wicked ones should get the lense treatment.

How are the Primo and Reaper comparing so far?  They look very similar...
I have been monitoring the plants themselves more than the pods. I see anthocyanin (purpling) in the nodes and stems in both of them. Leaves are very similar too. As far as pod shape, there is no difference. Both are putting out pods as consistant as any of these newer superhots. Not very!!! Soon I will be able to eat both side by side.

IMO I think it is basically impossible to tell the difference without genetic testing. If you look at all of the different Yellow 7 Pots floating around, you will see how impossible it really is. I am growing yellows from 2 more sources this season, that makes 5 total in the last 2 seasons. All of them have had similar leaf and plant structure but pod shape and texture varied a bit.The flavor and heat are too similar for me to tell the difference. I grew the SR version (original) and it was no different than the Yellow Brain strain.

Long story short..... anytime there is a fair amount of money to be made, morals, ethics, trust go out the window. This industry has gotten pretty cutthroat.

Awesome - those are such a wonderful tasting pepper. That's a ton of pods off that plant, you must be treating her right.
Hey Andy, I would love to share my opinion with you,but these things won't ripen up!! Wow!

John,

My peach ghost scorpion plant is a monster. It's 4ft across and only 3ft tall. At least 60 peppers on it now and hundreds of flowers but they're all still small.

Got a late start this year because of surgery in March and the late frost killed a bunch. but I've got some great lookig pods but nothing ripening yet.

Here's a beautiful pod from the not black nagas you sent me last year. 1 plant survived winter:

Crazy looking pods J.
The Reaper is a Keeper.
I hear those pods are so hot they burned somebodies plants down......huh ?
Now that person has twice as many Primo's to distrubite.....lol

No pods on my Orange Primos but the one in your photo looks similsr to the Orange Scorps I grew. Very smooth texture with few seeds and oil inside.

Have a great weekend

Dude.....holy shit..that looks like world war three weapons grade plutonium hanging off those plants...can't wait to hear an update about you trying some hahahahahahahahahaaaaa (yes that was sinister)

That black naga is haunting my brain....I love it. I've never seen one with a tail like that before.

Great pod shots brother! Man, what a great time of year! That last shot I like the looks of that hooked stinger peeking in from above too!

Nice work the King of Pod porn and growing machine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you are back and active. Those late frosts sucked pretty bad. Has been a complete reversal for us from last season.

Yowww .... nice!!  What are those bottom most pods??
I got those from Chris,he called them Not Yellow Infinity .The pods I took the seeds from were a bit smoother. It's like taking acid watching those things grow.

Thanks Dave. I have been testing some ripe stuff but won't be posting any videos! When the harvests get bigger,I will post some shots. If you see anything you like, let me know later in the year.

It is cool watching stuff morph overnight. Some start smooth and end up nasty and vice versa. Never know what you are going to get.

Damn man, those are some gnarly pods, really sick!
Glad you like them Matt. I have a couple you might be intetested in testing. You get to taste them and get seeds to boot. Double win!
