P-Son's "mild to wild" Manscaping prohibited!!

After a couple nudging pm's it is time to get things rolling...well, get a list situated atleast. I won't be starting my seeds until March 1 this season. This list is subject to change, and I'm betting it will before I'm done typing. My two goals this season are 1.) Take less pics and better quality 2.)Sow later and achieve similar yields. My germination techniques and set up are not inspirational or extravagant so the bulk of my updates will be after early june plant out. Fert apllication and medium are changing a tiny bit but staying simple with it.

c lanceolatum.... Holy Grail stuff!!! After 47 days I sowed my last couple seeds in a last ditch effort. 9 or 10 days later and this guy hooks. I'm over the moon...that is until I see the seed hull hanging on. Really?? So what do you do when only 1 sprouts out of your 7 seeds and it has a helmet head? Surgery ensued! I weaseled the pinhead sized casing off and everything looked nice and green but in a few hours it started looking rough. Fingers crossed for now. Excuse the cell phone picture here.

Just perfect man! They loving that HID!

The plants respond well to them. As Greg mentioned above, the wilds and pubes seem to like the flouros better. I have been using hid lights the last two seasons. I wait until a month before I start hardening off and give it to them. They start transforming within a couple days.

Nice grow!!

Glad you like it. Thanks for the compliment.

Last update for awhile. The weather is in the mid 70's for highs and 50s for lows. Let the hardening begin!!!!

Perfect looking specimens !

Same here, I'm starting to bring more plants out of the house. We had about a week of overcast skies but the 1st day of sun burned a few leaves, new growth looks fine.
I'm looking at around the 18th for a target date. I can't believe the 14 day forecast, yet rely on the 5 day.

I'm holding back on the regular updates myself until everythings out of the house.

I like that Gallup Poll plant.....mine went south...

The Douglah flower looks like it has resin on it......juicy !

You should be swinging the clubs in that kind of weather. (probably are ?)

Love the flex!!! Hows the cap 1144 doing? My favorite wilds are the flexousum, cap 1144, and galapagoense. No seeds for the flex though but I will be on the lookout.

Everything looks like it's going smoothly for ya. Can't wait for plant out! Except the part where I have to go chop out old, stinky, rotting Brussel sprout plants from last season...lol

I put my overwinters out a few days ago; the weather's about the same as yours. Jack Frost hung up his hat.

Sorry for not replying sooner, but your photo's are absolutely beautiful, John! Of course the plants are in great shape as well :D Keep it bud!

My front porch is perfect for hardening. The plants get sun from 7 until 9 and then 11 until 1. Couldn't design it better. When I get home I bring them out and put them under a tree and give them a couple more hours.

Hope the GP has me at 90/10 to get ripe pods off the Gala. How far south did it go? Springfield or Hades?

The weather is immaculate! We are good until Saturday atleast. I have my overwinters out and they are starting to to get a lot of new growth.

Show off! hahaha...great stuff! Your wild side is one for the history books! Rocopica! Had to google that bad boy, looks like a really cool variety. Can't wait to see it covered in flowers!

Hey Shane, the Rocopica is a great looking plant,I hope to see them covered in pods! Your climate would be good for a lot of these.

It's hard to keep up,no need for apologies. A lot of times I can't comment on grows so I just click the like button so people know I am viewing.

Great hardening shots, can't wait to see them outside full time ^_^

Thanks for viewing Ramon, the way this weather is it might be soon!

I may have to fly you down to take some pictures of my garden Johnny. Simply amazing.

Sounds good. You can use the camera,I will be at the beach!

Well done! Plants look great, the Mata Frade, something about those beautiful purples.

Picture perfect Douglah flower shot.

Here's to plant out coming soon.

I like the black/purple varieties. Hopefully it keeps a lot of the dark coloration and doesn't go green.

You got me seed searching over here for ulupica seeds...I would love to grow some of the awesome stuff you got going. Nons look stellar too.
Save your cash, atleast until we see what happens with these.

Looking dern good P-son. That bed looks like it has some might fine dirt in it. Looks just right for some Rhombs and Lances!! :)

They will look good anywhere on the property!!

Mighty fine!

Beautiful gala. Branching like crazy already.

I have 1 wild every year. flexuosum is next years project. I have heard they are pretty hardy? I just love their shiny leaves.

Very healthy looking plants. Low fat chinenses ready to take off.

Flexuosum is cool, leaves are dark and rich in color and the flower isn't too shabby either.

Thats it.I give up. Between the great camera shots and the growing of flawless pepper plants It does not get much better. Great job!!!!

Thanks man,you are putting together an epic grow yourself! I'm seeing a major trade this fall.

How old is the flex and galapagoense? I'm 1000% jealous of your flex absolutely amazing!! I heard they are not self pollinating?

Congrats on the Galapa Bud.........that's a hairy little thing. I wonder if it will produce more than one per node?

How old is the flex and galapagoense? I'm 1000% jealous of your flex absolutely amazing!! I heard they are not self pollinating?

I have different accessions of the same species on a lot of my wilds and have staggered the sowing dates so I would have to go look. They take a long time to grow! I waited too long to pot some of them up so they are alittle behind where the should be.

I've never read anything on the flex being self incompatible, some other ones I have though. They are trying to produce viable seed so I would guess they all have some trigger to do so when push comes to shove. Conditions probably play a big role in pollination.

Congrats on the Galapa Bud.........that's a hairy little thing. I wonder if it will produce more than one per node?

I think only one bud per node. The galapa is pulling at my heart,I like some other plants more but it is trying to win me over. I notice all of my plants have some sort of smell if disturbed, the galapagoense has a very strong one.Since I have had it outside it has lost the odor. Curious to see if it picks it back up around the time it sets blossoms, maybe to attract pollinators?
