Hey paul! 6 days is not bad for chinenses! All you early starters got me foaming at the mouth so i started just a few seeds myself :) As soon as your starts get some leaves on em i expect some pic updates!
Always good to hear your voice, Britton! Glad you have got
started with some seeds. I'll post pics when there is something
noteworthy! I really enjoyed your balcony grow last season, so
bring it!

Some more varieties popped today, some of my harvest seed included,
so I feel good that the process I used to collect the seeds was okay.
(H = my harvested pod.)

Bahamian Goat ..................................................... Tristen (2)
Congo Trinidad Yellow .......................................... Pia's pod H (1)
Pointed Yellow Habanero ..................................... Robin's plant H (3)
Costeño Amarillo .................................................. Fernando's pod H (3)

Awesome man. The balcony is back and will be in action again! im trying to limit myself to only 10 plants this year so we can hopefully still using our balcony for sitting on. So wont be as big as last year but im still looking forward to it. Hey did you grow that pointed yellow hab last season?

Nice work Paul ... sounds like a pop corn factory ... popping left right and centre ... sounds like a sign of another bumper season to come!!

Man, you got a full nursery going on right now! Those seed varieties look interesting, I'm definitely going to enjoy seeing pics and videos of your grow this year :)

Hi Paul! Finally had time to check out your new glog. Everything looks great! Conrats on your first sprouts. I'm at day 10 on the Manzanos, and day 5 on the chinenses and baccatums. No heat mat though, so mine will take a little longer.

Was just about to post the question about how you attached the reflective panels, but somebody beat me to it. Love the binder clip idea! May have to try some variation of that myself. I have my trays in a south facing window, so I don't want a 4 sided box, but I'd like to put a panel on the side that faces in, so it would need to be easily removable. Also, when the sprouts are big enough to pot up, I may have to utilize the space under the grow table, which already has a light attached underneath. When I get to that point, I would really need the reflective panels, since that area is below window level, and won't get any sun. Then, I'd have to rotate the trays, so everyone gets treated fairly. Anyway, appreciate the inspiration.

Best wishes on this year's grow!

Hey Paul, the cycle begins! Nice grow list mate. That's a serious germbox you've got. You need it with that many peppers. Good luck bud I'll be watching. Luke

Hey, Beeman, that' good news! Get those fingers in some dirt!
I did grow the pointed yellow last season; great producer for a
small plant. Three of them sprouted so far.

Good luck getting that balcony going this season, my friend!

Things are proceeding pretty well, Tristen, eight more
varieties popped overnight!
Your Bahamian Goat sprouts are looking good!

Thanks for looking in, Stefan. Have enjoyed your glog
this season as well! Good luck getting your 'daughter's
seeds' to pop for ya!

It's a killer waiting for stuff to pop. Hope you are seeing some hooks
just to reduce your anxiety ;)

As for the reflective material, last year I used a camping tarp with a
silver reflective side just draped over the lights on my grow table - it
worked great. It might be a good solution for you, you could jury rig
it to get the reflective walls, and it takes no storage space in the off
season. But the hard panels are nice! This is a real upgrade for me!

Good luck getting those manzanos to germinate; my Orange Rocotos
popped last night (3!); I am pretty surprised, happily so. I don't use a
heat mat, either. I just depend on the lights to provide the heat. So
far temp in the trays ranges from 78-ish at night to 85-ish during the day.
You might be seeing chinense hooks soon; gardening teaches patience,
especially where you are!!

BTW, nice profile pic...

Hey, Luke, thanks for the look. I need the germ box to be
big enough for my plants to live in for 3 or 4 months! Plus,
my tired ol' back needed something at chest height for
access without bending over. Good growin' out your
way, mate!

WOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hi, Pia. Thanks for the rousing cheer! Another of your
Congo Trinidad Yellows popped today; one has
a pretty tight helmet, so I'm trying to baby it along,
keeping it moist and squeezing it gently to open it.
If that doesn't work, I'll go for the clippers! Good
growin', girl!

Here's todays hooks/cotys list. Some have surprised me
like the Orange Rocoto and Naga Morich. Now for the
three or four month nursery game! Eight new varieties:

Marconi Rosso ................................................... Hume (2)
Chiltepin ............................................................. CPI (1)
Naga Morich ...................................................... Robin Plant H (1)
Congo Trinidad Red ........................................... PM (2)
Red Savina ......................................................... PM (1)
Jamaican Red Habanero ................................... FM (1)
Fatali/Savina ...................................................... Robin Plant H (1)
Orange Rocoto .................................................. PM H (3)

These have also put up more hooks/cotys: Red Habanero CPI (5/6),
Congo Trinidad Yellow Pia (2/6), Costeño Amarillo Fernando (4/6).

That's so great Paul. I hope they all pop for you. I have to figure out where I am going to put my light set up and what type of lighting I need. I have info over load an am now more confused than ever

Hey Paul,

Good luck this season on your quest to a more predictable strain of scotch bonnet!
Thanks, Steve. I'm really pullin' for those MoA's.
I've never grown SB's before, so I'm hoping all
three varieties will grow for me! All three seeds
are from good sources, so I'm hopeful!

Keep it simple, my friend! I'm just using regular 4' shop lights with
6500K T12 tubes in them. Nothing fancy. If I needed to do more
than get through the veg stage, then they would not be adequate,
but for germing and veging they work okay. Down the road, I may
invest in a couple of nice T5 fixtures for the grow shelf! And maybe
start aero rooting cuttings off the plants/varieties I really like and
just grow a few from seeds to try new varieties. Someday :D

Visit the ghetto gear thread for lots of good light set up ideas that are, er, cheap!

Looking good buddy!
Thanks, Jamison. Nice to see your start-ups popping, as well!
Off to a great season!

Man, I love this stage of growing chillies. Waking up every morning to see what has hooked.... it's like christmas as a kid all over again! Well done... looking awesome!

Thanks my friend. I am going to do some constructing this weekend. Posting pics throughout my venture
All right, good luck, Pia!
Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Howdy, Lourens, and thanks! I have to admit to a certain
joy at seeing the hooks show up in the morning!

No new varieties today, but more of some that have sprouted already.
Repeaters and totals so far:
Orange Hab CPI 4/6, Pointed Yellow Hab Robin P H (5/6),
Costeño Amarillo Fernando (5/6), Marconi Rosso Hume (4/6),
Naga Morich Robin P H (2/6), Congo Trinidad Red PM (3/6),
Red Savina PM (2/6), Jamaican Red Hab FM (2/6),
Fatali Savina Robin P H (3/6), Orange Rocoto PM (4/6).

Still waiting on Scotch Bonnets, Yellow 7, and some others.
So far 15/26 varieties have sprouted. Let's see what tomorrow
morning brings.

You have had a pretty good strike rate already Paul ... I hope these other varieties show up soon
Me, too, Tristen! I want to see your seeds turn into monster plants!
As a small hobby grower, I'm okay with 2 or 3 out of 6 sprouting since
I only will grow only one plant of most of these varieties. My perfect
scenario would be to have one or two seedlings of each variety to give
away later!
