PaulG 2014

Grow List 2014 - Many new varieties and a few repeaters.
This is the third year of my original three year plan to grow a slew of different
types to see what grows well here before settling on some consistent performers.
I'd love to grow some of the new varieties from this season again, and some more
of my favorites from 2012, but not enough space.  But I have seed for my favorites for
season 2015, so I have something to look forward to already!

Major goal for season 2014 - lay in a good supply of super hot powder!

Just a quick update on the wild Texas Tepins.  This one has the most ripe pods; all will have to go to the greenhouse when and if I need space for starts in party cups:

Great update Paul! Love those Bhuts! Can't wait to hear how they do in the Greenhouse~!
Thanks, Adam.  They will probably do fine in spite of my care
I'm hoping for an early and nice Spring and Summer

Hey Paul, nice job on the pot up... Your plants are looking great, keep em under that T5....
Thanks, James.  A little B-1 works wonders!  They survived the transplant with no ill effect
visible so far.  Wish I could keep them under the T5, but the round two and three plants are
taking over the grow shelf!  These pictures are a day or two old, but will get a pic of the grow
shelf soon.

Here's the Bhut Jolokia Yellow (Sawyer) I left out in the last update, with the others in the
greenhouse:

Pods look great Paul!

I can't wait until I have one in my hands.

Babies are looking good sitting in the greenhouse.
Many thanks, Scott!  The greenhouse has its moments, for sure.
Keep it green!
The pods were just right, firm and juicy, and even a little heat!

Here's a better shot of them, with a quarter for size comparison:

This is the largest and first to ripen, then the other three from left to right:

All de-seeded and 'halved':

Toss with a little olive oil, salt and pepper:

Roasted under the broiler for 5 min or so.  Spread the heat throughout the pieces very nicely:

Tossed with a little sliced roast chicken breast.  The final dish had a nice even heat that created a little mouth
burn and slight sniffles, but hey. Winter Manzanos? I'll take it   ;)

Hope everyone has a great time watching the Super Bowl.  Or not.   ;)

It's a nice day here.  Cool and sunny.
It will get warm in the greenhouse for a little while this afternoon

Have a great week, everybody!

Great looking setup and everything looks healthy and happy.
Those Manz are much bigger than I thought they would get in the winter!
Nice harvest.

Winter pods AND food porn, You're killin' us over here. :D
A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do   :D
Sorry I missed your first post, Jesse; thanks for the positivity!
The first two Manzanos were impressive; would be great to think that
the Summer pods would be as big.  The greenhouse plant those came
from is putting out flower buds!  Will get pics in a day or two.

Jesse beat me to it... but those are much bigger than I thought as well! Have you tasted one yet?

Ooops. Slight mouth burn and sniffles. Got it!  :drunk:

Plants are looking great Paul! And man those Manzano's are big! I wish I could get pods like that in the winter. Heck that pretty much outdoes my summer pods...

Neil

Wow Paul, plants all look great, and those monzano/chicken dish looks fantastic. You are going to have a heck of a spicy crop this year for sure.

Hey, Neil.  they pretty much outdid my own summer pods
for the last two sesons!  Maybe this will be my lucky year!

Gee Paul, those Manzano pods look humongeous... nice saute with the chicken too!
Thanks, Rick!  They made a great complement to
 the roasted chicken!
maximumcapsicum said:
Man that's a great step by step. I can practically smell the pods through my phone.
They had a very fresh scent, not spicy.  I expected a little
more intensity, but the flavor was awesome.  Wish I was
better at discerning and describing flavors.

Oh those yellows are looking nice.  Got me excited that my early one might pop a few for me.  Food looks awesome!!!
Hope that is the case, Jeff.  Manzano is one of my favorites,
but I've never harvested enough pods to really satisfy me.
Maybe this is the season!

Thanks, Jeff.  This grow log isn't much for foodies,
but I try to get a basic one in now and then!

Here's to a good season for everyone
