Yo Paul!

Do you have a USDA Cardensaii going this year? I have an extra ISO seed that just popped, if you want it.

I do, Adam. I will post a picture of it and
some of the other wilds tomorrow. The
NEEM seems to be working slowly.

Thanks for the offer, my friend! I wish I
had room for another one.

I use Pyrethrins as part of my IPM and have found them to work well at knocking back an exploding infestation. I usually start with a .01% pyrethrin solution at first sign. They're not all that expensive either.

Then I hit 'em with Spinosad about a week later and round out the program with a neem extract a week after that.

For what it's worth, I've had my best luck when attacking a pest problem on multiple fronts.

Here you go, Adam, as promised.
This USDA cardenasii (Bolivia, seed from
Cane Dog) is one of the better wild specimens:

Took some pics of the wild pepper plants today.
You can see aphids and their residue on some of
them, so after I took the pics I got out my custom
aphid removal tool, and went over them leaf-by-leaf
and growth tip-by-growth tip:

Hopefully this removal will keep them at bay
while the NEEM oil soil drench kicks into gear.
Really discouraging dealing with these critters.

Beautiful!
If Cane sent that to you after last spring, it just may be the same strain I have here!!!! Very nice!!!!!

Thanks, buddy! Yes, these seeds came from
Dr. McDog in a seed swap at the end of last
season. I look forward to comparing the growth
habit and pods to your specimen!

Depending on which he sent....
Last spring, Cane had a CGN Card and was looking for a USDA version. I received some ISO USDA Cards from Sandra (Fiogga) and sent him some. He grew them together and either sent you seeds from the bag I sent him, or he sent you his harvested seeds from last fall. Lol.
Small world....

I'm so glad you're growing these. It's so hard to pick and choose when they're just names and numbers. Lol.

I'm trying
pi 322717
Pi 596051
Purple chacoense
CGN 22184
Wild Galapagos-Frutescens
Rhomboidium
Pimenta Caixo Jukka-Annuum
Maybe a USDA Card now. Lol

I can't think of any more right now. Lol

I know, there are so many cool wild varieties, and
many of the ones I’m growing passed through your
hands, my friend!

It will be fun watching your grow, since I
don’t have any of those going! Plus, I have
quite a few wild seeds I haven’t grown yet!

The plant looks fantastic, Paul, regrettably it also looks like it has crossed with a rocoto.  The Card was grown on the other side of the house from anything it could cross with, but they are highly prone to hybridization by rocotos and it looks like a bee might have managed to do the job on it.  The original seeds I received prior to last season produced one true and one rocoto-crossed rocopica (you're actually growing out an F2 seed from that plant I put on the train).  The rocopica was an extremely nice plant, IMO, and your looks to be as well.  I'll have 100% isolated seed after this season, so if you're still interested and want to give me another chance  I'll fix that for you.

It's actually a different strain.  I have one of yours growing too that I planted late last year and I'm very happy to have the second set of genetics.  As it gets bigger and produces this season I'll be comparing the two.  I'll likely isolate each and run a cross in the hopes of broadening the genetic pool.  Thanks again for sharing Bhuter, you are the man!   :metal:  I do have a pair of CGN cards (same genetic source) that produce a lighter flower and calyx and a more orangey versus dark red pod.
