Hey Paul,
Did/does any of your Purple Thunder plants have purple coloring on the leaves? Over the weekend, one of my seedlings started to get purple coloring along the edges of both coty leaves. [emoji16]

Yes, they have purple foliage. Comes from the
PDN genes in the PdNxBMJ part of the cross
with the BJ red. Some plants are darker than
others, but they all exhibit the purple foliage.

Lots of photos in the Purple Thunder grow log.

Have been fighting aphids on Dragon49’s PdNxBJ OW;
nothing serious, more of an annoyance than anything else.
Now that some seedlings are emerging, I decided to spray
again with insecticidal soap and will spray some NEEM
today or tomorrow. I have been using this 8-ounce bottle
since 2012.

Starting to see some seedlings emerging.
At least I know the Black Gold is an okay
starting medium. I always hold my breath
until the first ones start to emerge.

Looks like Devv’s Trippaul Threat White is
5/5! Good work, Scott! You can see Trident
Chili’s red Scotch Bonnet coming up in the
cell above and to the left. Alright, John!

Scott’s Suger Rush Cream also made an
appearance this morning:

Hoping to see some more in the next few
days. All my seeds were dried at 100*F in
the pods, so I hope they will begin to emerge
soon. Last time I did this, I had great results.
Time will tell.

Looking good, great to see a few pop. I'm a couple days behind you hoping to see results soon. My main concern is that my garage has been getting too cool at night my heat mat isn't keeping up.

Are they in a dome? You could try covering it at night
with a towel to help hold in the heat. Just be sure to
monitor the temp carefully at first.

you should start seeing some hooks soon.

Hey Paul.  Glad to see you are getting sprouts!  I have some of the Black Gold mix down in the basement but never thought of using it for seeds.  I might give it a try with some of my chinenses here soon.

Nice to see the 2020 season officially underway for you Paul. I hear those SRC's make good poppers!
Hopefully, I'll get a chance to try some!
And yeah, don't let those aphids get into the sprouts like somebody did

I wonder who that could be   ;)

What kind of god would create aphids

You might as well give it a try since it's already paid for!

It seems to be working for me, in a week or two, we'll
see how it compares to the rockwool and jiffy plugs
I've used in the past.

Good to see your 2020 season is well underway good sir - will be a pleasure following along again this year! :)

So no rockwool this year? Looks like the soil start is treating you well all the same, so that's nice! Love the variety of your list again, should be really good (h)eatin' there!

Are you giving the youngsters the good ole silica blast again this year? Did you feel it made a difference last season? Your success seems to suggest so, but was curious whether you think it made a difference... :)

Your seeds are popping on my end already after just a week or less, so your method of drying seems to work a treat! Will be starting my new glog very soon...

I may try some rockwool with my annum seeds this season.
I really like it in general, especially for the ease in transplanting.
They are a tad spendy.

I am. I think it was a good addition to the routine. I will start
using it when I transplant the seedlings. In the meantime, I
will use the General Hydroponics Rapid Start on the seedlings
beginning with the next watering (1 quart per week in each
tray of 32 cells.)

I am very happy to hear my seeds are doing their
job for you. I always worry until I hear good results!

One side note, the Black Gold potting soil contains
Potassium Silicate, so no need to add more SiBlast
until I start transplanting into my Happy Frog / Ocean
Forest mix.

Good luck going forward into 2020, Erv!
