Pepper Plants Getting Devastated

By hover, I guess you you mean hoover:) I think I'd need a lot of time and patience to vaccuum off aphids, and I think it would be just as easy to squish them individually but then I'd have to do it again the next day.
As for fruitflies, I use a "wasptrap" or bowl of cider vinegar or fruitjuice to catch/kill them.

Damn, yes I did. Spelling has never been my strong point. I did try the vinegar thing but it didn't really have a big result. yes some flies to get trapped and killed, bust most ignored it. I was much quicker to hoover up a whole bunch of them.

I think it would be quicker to hoover than individual squash and remove because you could do each leaf in one go. anyway perhaps I wait and see till i get some.

One word about ladybugs: AMAZING! About 200-300 of them wiped out a major aphid infestation indoors in a week. Not one to be seen. They are SO SO SO SO much more effective than any organic / chemical sprays. Anything else in my opinion now is a waste of time. Best $11 I spent (inc S/H). :)

congrats.. glad to hear some feed back regarding how well lady bugs work..

will keep them in mind for sure...

just wanted to mention one other thing, i am almost positive the soil was contaminated with them already...

happened to me last year as soon as i changed the soil...

That's good news Chris. I've been fighting them everyday too on my limited # of plants. Once I feel I have them wiped off every leaf of a plant, I isolate the plant - so far so good. I'm waiting for some ladybugs to show up in the house, I usually get them every spring. You're right about them hiding under the bottom leaves though - the little bastards are good at their job.

Alright Chris!! Best news I've heard today. How are the plants looking? You going to be able to save them? Man this is great news. Ladybugs are good killers. Very good killers. I've also read that their larvae are wicked good at munching aphids too. Congrats to you Chris, I'm glad you didn't give up.

Chris,

That is great to hear!, glad you are winning the battle with the bugs, where did you order ladybugs if I may ask?, (Hoping I won't need them, but just in case)...

Thanks everyone. I ordered them from a place called March Biologicals. $6.99 for 1,500 + $4.50 S/H = $11.49. VERY reasonable compared to others and quick service. :)

Hi

I have had a few infestations over the last couple of months too. Have been spraying them with natural pyrethrum sprays and thought it had all cleared up, until yesterday my capsicom plant was COVERED in the little bastards! This is the only plant in my shadehouse that is left with them so hopefully this last spray will have killed them all.
Good luck to you

Nice to see they worked so fast for you Chris, they usually start off slow for me. Do you find they eat more at night as they are said to?
