Yesterday my nephew Tadhg was born, a whopping 11 lbs 7 oz, 21.5 inches… he'll pretty much be taller than me in about a year.  Snapped a couple of my niece meeting her brother for the first time, she was so excited.

Awesome shots as always! Congrats! 11lb 7oz?! Give that woman a medal! He is gunna be a lady killer too. I've got a daughter due any day now. The anticipation is killing me!

Thanks man! And an early congrats on your daughter!  Tadhg ended up being a C-section, probably for the best… his mom (my sister in law) only weighed 5 lbs 5 oz when she was born, so Tadhg is more than double what his mom weighed at birth!  He actually had some issues a couple hours after I took those shots and was in the NICU for a couple days, he was released last night so I might go visit him tonight.

Ha thanks, my niece was the star of the show for me that day, I have another snap of her pouting in the waiting room because she wasn't able to see her baby brother yet… she's laying on the floor with her head under a chair. I had a friend in from out of town so I haven't been able to go through all of them, plus I don't wanna flood the thread with my family photo album!
 
its a pout but at least she has her big girl boots on.

Nice purchase, Essi. I have the Manfrotto 290, and love it.
 
I can't cantilever the center column like yours, but I can invert it if I ever need the camera that low.

I've run into circumstances where I wished I could cantilever like that.

I was interested in that model cause it's very low to the ground. i was in doubt of the bigger brother, the 055, but i've not heavy stuff (and at the moment i'm not interested in heavy tele stuff) so this should be more than enough and more portable (not a bad thing). Went in the end for the ball head, seems fine, robust, light and a good all rounder (and less expensive).
Wich head do you have?
 
Same ball head as yours. I like it better than the tilt-pan type head. I have a cheaper tripod with one of those that I used for years. It's been reappropriated as a light stand.
