PIC 1's......Pod Pornage.............2012

Here's the start on my grow log. Well no pods yet but I have to start somewhere, and away we go!

The seeds in the containers are all c.chinense. They were dunked in a germinating solution for an over-nighter on December 1st.
This was the first phase of the germination process with plantings happening every 2 weeks through the month of January.
The annum species and the mild/medium strains will get planted late Jan through early Feb.

Most of these are "Super-hots.

IMG_2117.jpg

Here's a shot from today, things are looking up and up.

IMG_2132.jpg

Here's a unique looking seedling. It has 3 cotyledon's and a set of 3 true leaves. The seedling is a Trinidad Scorpion Green, seeds are from Chris (cc). I've seen the triple cotyledon with my Coronong's but not the triple set of true leaves at the same time

IMG_2118.jpg

Here's another seedling that caught my eye. The leaves are as dark purple as my Dutch.Hot's. This one's the Purple Bhut Jolokia seeds were also from Chris. I know the leaves will eventually turn green.....but right now they look pretty...

IMG_2136.jpg

Did somebody say "Purple"......Here's one of my overwinters. The Maui Purple. The flowers have set and soon the chili's will form...........yea

IMG_2142.jpg

And finally another overwinter and was an over-achiever/producer last season. That's why its here. It's's the TS Butch T

More to follow, soon

Greg

Thanks man,I never look at this being a glog competition, just challenging myself to do a better job with this than the previous season.Decent 1st mini harvest...alot of smaller first picked peppers....with unpredictable heat!
Sorry Greg I didn't mean compeitition I meant just entering your glog and learning from all the information and assistance you have given. I have been having mini harvest of small pods I thought it was inconsistent waterin, but now that you mention the heat could be the culprit if assuring it is not me.
Thanks

I've only seen a couple Hitchcock movies, but Rear Window is my favorite. I should watch it again - amazed at how he could build suspense. Today's stuff more often relies upon blunt, brute force. There's very little subtlety. That harvest shot is great! What a fun mix of colors and shapes.
Thanks Andy,I just looked at your glog and those "Rellenos" look great! I can see those batheing in some De Arbol sauce

very nice! i wish that my chiles looked as good as yours.
Hey Buddy,It's good to hear from you. Not the best of weather that we're having. I wish we'd just get some rain.I remember your harvests photos from last year. You had a great variety especially for making appetizer type dishes.

Yo Greg!

Your grow is looking amazing, the collage of all your plants is a nice contrast of green, to all the brown that we have been experiencing this year with its excessive heat and lack there of rain fall. Those nagabons have an excentric lime light color to them in the pre-ripeness, nice lookin pods!

That pepper, center left in the harvest picture, the orange one with the scorpion/morouga shape to it, what kind of pepper might that be? Looks similar to the 7 chaguanas that are growing out here.....lil more tail on that one though.

With half the growing season left I'm excited to see what that field of heat will develop into!

Good Vibes,

Alex
Thanks Alex,Not alot of folks here grow the "Nagabon". It's a great tasting pepper that ripens a pale shade of orange/red.Not sure which pepper that your referring to but if its underneath the top of the Ring of Fire Cayenne then that's a Orange 7/Pot from (semillas) seeds. The yellow pod in the center just above the Red FDA is a Jamaican Bonnet which was the 1st picked off of 5 plants. This pod looks different than rest that are starting to form

Thanks
Opps. sorry SC,Thats not what I meant either. The growlogs and updates are fun and enjoyable. I like to be creative when I can......so I try to challenge my ideas to make them enjoyable and entertaining for folks to read

Mission accomplished. I can't pick a favorite pic on here. Every one is about perfect...your chili orchard window shot is impressive, but then your "mini" harvest shot is amazing. The pod shots are incredible...damn, I'm fresh out of adjectives!

Time for a few photos!

IMG_3802.jpg

We finally got some rain.........more like a storm. Here's some "Yellow Congos" from a branch that broke off in the wind. Its tropical salsa tonite with these and some citrus fruits..............yum

IMG_3860.jpg

This is the 1st "SB7J" to start forming. I can see the bonnet side of the cross

IMG_3841.jpg

A "Butch T" thats starting to ripen from the tip

IMG_3847.jpg

"Bahamian Goat"

IMG_3856.jpg

Some "Cappucinno Kapowie" pods starting to take shape

IMG_3821.jpg

A flower from a "Jamy" plant

IMG_3873.jpg

Here's a Red FDA Scotch Bonnet .....(AJ)

IMG_3852.jpg

And finally a couple of "Gambia's"

Ooooooooo......Aaaaaaaaaa! Love the pics Pic! The last one is my favorite. I love water dripping off the pods. We needed that rain! Wish it would just do that twice a week for the next three months.....lol

A couple more shots...........before I head out for a cold one or two!

IMG_3837.jpg

Somewhere someone was asking about the shape of the leaves on the "Bhut Jolokia's". The one on the left is a red Bhut from CPI and the one on the right is a "Chocolate Bhut" seeds from the UK. The shape of the leaves are wavy on both plants and come to a point. That's how I've always seen them.

IMG_3855.jpg

"St. Martin" habs.............these will ripen red

IMG_3835.jpg

"Piri-Piri" ......................these chili's with some varieties of "Birds and Thai's" will make a unique hot sauce....

Later,.......thanks for taking a peek...

Greg

King, you're O-SO right. I didn't mind the storm last night.....it kept me awake, but dam.....did we need the rain!

You know...I notice I have to go to google almost every time visit here! Half the time they don't have the answer and the only hits are your glog! Cappuccino Kapowie huh...hmmmmm. Top notch as always brother! Thank you for the update!
Shane

The kapowie is a Potawie creation? Love that Butch T... T is for Toucan? Hehehe Those plants are so healthy. A lot of photography hides the good or bad color of the plants. I can tell that those leaves would have exactly that same color in person. I think I saw you mention before that you had a family member who worked in photography or cinematography? Have you had any schooling or did you learn from them?

Thanks bro,Ha.........I had to google it myself, but the only source for photos would be where I acquired the seeds...Grant (JungleRain).....he does have a ripened photo

Very ,very nice images gorgeous jummy pods.
Thanks Vladan,Your compliment is well respected here!

I absolutely love the red stinger on the green pod. Fantastic photos!
Thanks Stefan,Normally I see the "Scorps" start to ripen from the top down, this one's the odd ball

Not sure where the Kapowie originated. The seeds were from Grant (JungleRain)
.
Toucan..........Touche.........."Where's My Fruit Loops"...........ha
You're right about good photography, it can make it....bad can break it

!Hmmm...............I've popped open a few film backs and drop lenses on the floor before, and yes, my dad was the "Whirlwind" behind the camera and in the lab.

I did learn from the best, although my "Keen" eye has gotten blurry with age...lol

The cheap camera I use for these photos is the size of a deck of cards.......el cheapo...point and shoot...
And yes the leaves are green......so are the peppers theres not much ripening up ,yet

thanks for compliments and questions all are appreciated...

Very nice, I especially love the orozca plant! The middle Hawaiian red looks almost like a bishop's crown.

Thanks Stefan.....The Orozco is a beautiful plant, the photo doesn't do it justice. A close-up might have been better. I pop the chili's off the plant and eat them like candy. A quick hit of heat with a bit of crunch...
The Hawaiian Hab is producing all shapes of pods...........thin skinned and very fruity tasting.......

Til next week........
Thanks for looking and also sharing your photos

Greg

I love the taste/smell of the Big Sun. Mine didn't get as big as yours but boy the flavor was there!

I'm fond of the yellow types of peppers the flavor doesn't seem to be as harsh or bright................the reds do have their place in the kitcken, though

Greg, the plants and pods are looking great. I have
missed visiting your glog every day or two, but promise
to be more consistent the rest of the season! Have you
done any more tv interviews? Loved the overall shot
of your patio! Those are monster plants!
