PIC 1's......Pod Pornage.............2012

Here's the start on my grow log. Well no pods yet but I have to start somewhere, and away we go!

The seeds in the containers are all c.chinense. They were dunked in a germinating solution for an over-nighter on December 1st.
This was the first phase of the germination process with plantings happening every 2 weeks through the month of January.
The annum species and the mild/medium strains will get planted late Jan through early Feb.

Most of these are "Super-hots.

Here's a shot from today, things are looking up and up.

IMG_2132.jpg

Here's a unique looking seedling. It has 3 cotyledon's and a set of 3 true leaves. The seedling is a Trinidad Scorpion Green, seeds are from Chris (cc). I've seen the triple cotyledon with my Coronong's but not the triple set of true leaves at the same time

IMG_2118.jpg

Here's another seedling that caught my eye. The leaves are as dark purple as my Dutch.Hot's. This one's the Purple Bhut Jolokia seeds were also from Chris. I know the leaves will eventually turn green.....but right now they look pretty...

IMG_2136.jpg

Did somebody say "Purple"......Here's one of my overwinters. The Maui Purple. The flowers have set and soon the chili's will form...........yea

And finally another overwinter and was an over-achiever/producer last season. That's why its here. It's's the TS Butch T

More to follow, soon

Hmmmm...I had a feeling you were underating those plants. Lowballing is considered unethical yah know?!!!! Enough has been said about the pods, those plants are getting exactly what they need nutritionally. The coloration of the foliage is what impresses me! From the indoor grow to present life, those plants have always had a superior coloration to most plants I have seen here. Indoors, flouros can mask deficiencies, but natural sunlight shows all. I notice annuums typically keep that hunter green, but chinense seem to be alittle more picky, great color on those! Is that Naga in a raised bed or pot? That thing is holding no prisoners!!! All my indian types are growing like that. I didn't realize they needed 50sq ft; per plant. Thanks for "bringing it" once again. Bad summer or not, this has been a very educational grow to many of us. Have a great weekend Gregor.

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's INSANE!!!!!!!!!!  :woohoo:
Grats on the harvest to date...maybe one day for me, I will be able to pick a few ounces.
BUT...
2 x 5gallon buckets!
As said earlier "...words cannot describe..."
JEEBUS!!!

Mark

 ............Ha, I'm doing the dance............picked them cored'em and put in freezer bags all in one day!

OH MY GOD!!!!!! Im speechless!

I'm just happy to have success in the small garden space that I have...............must be luck!

Nice peppers... good documenting too...

Thank you............I appreciate that!

THat is fkin incredible. WOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW :drooling:  :onfire:

Thanks J,
My plants are running "Par for the Course". and the fairways are green and well manicured....................ha
The Naga is one of my overwinters and is finally starting jump, its in an 18 gal poit. All my super-hots are behind due to the heat that we've had.
But they all look to be productive before the end of the season.

The "Air and Water " show is in Chicago this weekend ............for some reason the pod reminds me of some kind of "Crazy Flying Saucer".
Jamie (Romy6) sent me some of these Caribbean c.chinense pods last year. I scraped out some seeds and ended up with one plant.
I don't know if these are the squash Jamaican Hots or a variant from a Bonnet ...........but its areodynamic looking!

As far as the taste of the TS Green, Its pretty bland with minimal heat....that's only my opinion. There's some other folks that grow those here and maybe they can chime in. We all have different taste buds. I have an On/Off list that I refer to at the end of the year and that one will probably make the no-grow for next year. I hope you get some tasty ones...

Greg

Again beautiful updates, Greg  Did that Crazy Flying Saucer even has seeds in it being that flat

Ha.............I see what you mean, Sure there are seeds about a dozen or so but the pods sound pretty hollow when tapped...

I have eaten them green, and also when the get a softer khaki color. I liken it to tearing a young branch off the plant, and chewing it up. Good novelty grow..... Nice serrated looking leaves and prolific.

Plants look great Greg. One day I will be half the grower you are. At least I hope  . Really cool to see that ufo looking orange chinese pepper. Looks just like the giant bag of peppers I found in my in-laws garage that warm day in December. I think it was december  . Glad you were able to get a plant to produce.

Wow Greg, how in the world do you keep track of which is which when you throw everything in a bucket?? I have to label like little baskets so I dont mix everything up  and you are just throwing everything in buckets!

Omg Omg Omg, my OCD is kicking in.....squirrell...

Very nice Greg! I like the way you labeled the photos!
Thanks Gary.......It can be a bit time consumming, but what isn't?

Yep......Having not one, but two keen eyes will do the trick........ha
I guess I look at the plants so often, I have a photographic memory......It helps that I don't have any "Mystery" or "Not" peppers growing.......yeah, right? Ha

That pepper is ridiculous. ahahaaaaa And Matt we all know ur OCD never turned off.....   ;)
Ha........OCD, Matt sleeps with a pitch fork under his bed. So he can be ready before the Crack of Dawn!

Greg,

What are those Ethiopian birdseye peppers like? Hotter than usual or do you think it is a cross with something like a cayenne?

Great grow again.... I'm in awe.

Conor

They're pretty hot...I also grow the Zimbawie and Malawie, but the Ethiopian seems to have less seeds. Most of the Bird chilis will be combined either for a Piri-Piri sauce or ground into a vinegar paste. The seeds were sent to me from a frind in the UK...Jason (rudeboy 2010).

Incredible grow, unbelievable harvests, and very professional photography!!! (she says, picking her jaw up off the floor)

So what photo editing program do you use to add the labels. Please don't say Skitch. I don't have a Mac.
