Very sad,

speaking from experience I have no pity on someone that kills themselves ..I feel bad for his family ...

RIP Robin Williams

Yeah definitely doesn't take a study or a doctor on CNN to tell us there is a link between someone that is insanely creative, artistic and just an all around "happy" person to actually being tormented or mentally nuts on the inside....I think we can come up with a list of names which this was the case that their greatest and best work came from darkest depths for them personally...

The brain is an amazing thing..

Yeah, most people who act happy are depressed and they act like that as a coping mechanism and to keep people from being bothered by it.

Unless you have suffered from depression it's difficult to comprehend. Thank God for Prozac, Wellbutrin and Medical Cannabis.

Having suffered through it as well as a rather nasty anxiety disporder mixed in, it does indeed suck, and I'm rather glad to be a member of Club Zoloft ;)

All the best people are crazy.

A huge number of comedians come from a totally f-d up childhood from what I've heard/read.

Robin Williams did a lot of drugs, and suffered depression for years.

While that all sucks, I don't judge - it's a sad thing and I feel for his wife and lovely daughter. He was a comedic genius and will be missed.

It's how I feel man..I have been there for many reasons , personal and service related reasons ....I couldn't imagine doing that to my family or daughter, period....

But you don't know the mental state of another person so you can't make that call.
Depression is a disease like cancer or any other so saying you have no pity on them is a little heartless I think.

I geuss I'm a little heartless then man, I'm not perfect , just being honest and I think that's at least respectable...

Try telling that to my uncle who had to find his oldest son hanging from the rafters under his house. Or the countless people who have attempted it and survived to say it was the biggest mistake of their lives.
Why are you quoting me MeatHead? I am on your side.

How am I wrong when I say I have no pity for the person that killed themselves and feel bad for the family that is left behind?!?!? Get a grip for real...

I'm not trying to argue about it, I'm done, it's how I feel..I have been left behind from someone killing themselves and I still feel this way..I do have that right...

A suicide has many victims, but only one perpetrator. It's only natural for those left behind to feel some degree of resentment for the one responsible for taking so much away from them.
And comparing suicide to cancer is a bit of a stretch. I think it's much more akin to drug addiction or other behaviors that the individual knows are dangerous and unhealthy for his or herself but, for whatever reason, won't or can't keep away from.

Sorry PMD. Sounded like you were on the other side.
What lead you to believe that? I posted the article saying that suicide was from severe depression which is a mental illness.

The definition of a disease:
"a disordered or incorrectly functioning organ, part, structure, or system of the body resulting from the effect of genetic or developmental errors, infection, poisons, nutritional deficiency or imbalance, toxicity, or unfavorable environmental factors; illness; sickness; ailment".

How does severe depression not classify as a disease and Alzheimer's does?
