RocketMan 2014 - Resurrection

Wow, first growing season in the new house and I'm totally stoked for this one. Lots of prep work still to be done but there's plenty of time to get it done before plant out. So, here is a pic of where Pepper Row will be going in:

I'll be coming out about another 18 to 24 inches from the fence. The brick line will move out to the new edge and the Ivey will be kept cut back to wher it is now so the fence doesn't show through, she who must be obeyed has made it known that she doesn't want to see it :)

I'm still working on the list and as these will probably be in for a while I'm actually thinking about rather a short list using the peppers I use most often in sauces but can't get locally like Fataliis and planting 3 or 4 of each.

The other, non-pepper stuff will be growing in the big bed at the end of the row. We'll be putting in raised beds there but first I have to remove this bast@rd:

OW clean up nice....and PODS!! Those look older than 1 year old, are they? I am also curious to know how badly they were neglected, I am always facinated by the resisliance that plants have. The trio is looking good under the Florida sun.

Looking real good Bill. Can't wait to see the potting table.

The o/w look great. Especially for being left for dead. Mystery 2 is especially impressive in it's inverted pot. :D

Any theories as to why your germination rates have been so bad? I don't understand it.

Slowly they're sproting. I really hoping that once they get going they'll take off, first though they just need to start breaking soil. Tough year :)

Pics are from last night just before watering.

Gotta get some tomatoes started soon. Might start a fee more pepper seeds too, different soil, see what happens. Have a great rest of the week!

Well Tray 2 is doing good and has new ones popping up. Tray 1 is still the same.

Big weekend this weekend, really been looking forward to it. Hoping to get tomatoes in the dirt and I want to start some more of the seeds from Tray 1 that I really wanted to grow this year. Have a great Friday y'all!

Bill my man the pepper plant is a jigsaw and the spice is cilantro. Now make me some sauce with those in the ferment in a few months ;)

Ok but what you didn't get to see was RocketMan's Skunk Works where this is in full ferment mode:

What we really need to do is get you started on your first ferment, maybe with some of those Birgits, so I can issue you your certificate, suitable for framing :)

Cant wait to get some peppers off this Jigsaw for a mash though. Might have to make it a Puzzling Sauce though ;)

Good friend at work is from Guyana and brought some seed with him when he moved here for several of the native Guyanese pepper plants. He brought me these today from his Wiri Wiri tree, things over 6' tall :)

He has one other which looks like an orange habanero he's going to bring me some pods for too. It's great to have friends, and especially pepper friends!

Super, Bill.  Looks like your grow is starting in earnest!

getting together with other forum members is way cool, for sure.
I really enjoyed the NorthWest ChiliFest in 2012, and plan on going
again this year!

I started the Sauce for my daughters wedding last night and it is by far the largest batch of sauce I've made at 3 gallons. Actually it's probably a little more than that but anh, what's a little more sauce :) Since I had a bunch of Whey for starting the sauce I used a little bit of it to start a batch of the Lacto Serum talked about in the video at the link in my last post. Here's a shot of the rice wash after I added the Whey:

In the video he collects the LAB from the air. I'm trying a little different tact since I already had Whey with the lacto in it. I've added it to the rice wash and am giving it a week for the lacto to propagate. At the end of the week I'll continue following his methods. You can follow it at the above link.
