RocketMan 2014 - Resurrection

Wow, first growing season in the new house and I'm totally stoked for this one. Lots of prep work still to be done but there's plenty of time to get it done before plant out. So, here is a pic of where Pepper Row will be going in:

I'll be coming out about another 18 to 24 inches from the fence. The brick line will move out to the new edge and the Ivey will be kept cut back to wher it is now so the fence doesn't show through, she who must be obeyed has made it known that she doesn't want to see it :)

I'm still working on the list and as these will probably be in for a while I'm actually thinking about rather a short list using the peppers I use most often in sauces but can't get locally like Fataliis and planting 3 or 4 of each.

The other, non-pepper stuff will be growing in the big bed at the end of the row. We'll be putting in raised beds there but first I have to remove this bast@rd:

Hooray for ground cherries!  I hope they do well for you this year.  I'm growing them again (I think, if they germinate and there is room in the new place) and I'm trying something called "Cape Gooseberries" that look like a larger version of Ground Cherries.  I got the seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom seeds.

That's really cool Andy, seems like I read somewhere that the Cape Goosberry has a little different flavor, like it's more Pineappley than the Ground Cherry. I'll be interested to hear your take on them.

So I've been looking for a way to do some Herbs, strawberries and ground cherries on the back Patio and I found this online which sell for between $173 and $200.

Quick look at Home Depot tells me I can build them for about $50.00.

Humm, 200 - 50 = $150.00 profit.

I may have to think about this for all of 10 seconds, I could knock out about 20 of these over a weekend and be at the Flea Market the next one.
;)

Bill, That's really fast for Pineapple production. Good job there.

I scarfed that planter pic, retirement is not that far off. A little wood working will bring in some :drunk: $$$ ;) :shh:

If you've got the time and the tools it looks like a good project Bill... you could save the money for lumber if you could get ahold of enough pallets. There's a guy near here that takes the pallets that get thrown out at the warehouse where he works and he uses them to make Bluebird nesting boxes. The scrap he bundles up and sells to the folks who have fire pits in their backyards. The wood might be free if you use pallets, but you'd have to have a planer or belt sander to smooth it out, and you'd have to be careful pulling out the nails and/or staples too. Just a thought...

I opened up my bottle of your Theriac sauce today and had it with my supper. It's a little on the mild side compared to your Flaming Pumpkin sauce, but it's a good pairing with Kielbasa... and by extension, with hot dogs... I think it'd go good with veal too.  Cheers!

Oh man, I was shocked when she brought bit over. I had neglected it a lot and was pretty sure it was dead and I thought it took a couple years till they produced.

Yeah, I was thinking I could knock out like 20 of them or more on a weekend and be at the flea market the next. Even if I only sold them for $100 that's a great profit. $50 for me and $50 to build the next one.

Rick, my wife actually found a bunch of places that have pallets for free and while I don't have a plainer I do have a heck of a belt sander that should do just fine. Plus some people like the rough look, would go really well in a forest garden maybe.

Little update, had a couple more pop out:

These are the survivors if the move. I honestly didn't think any of them would come back but 4 did and I have no idea what they are. They'll be getting topped pretty soo too.

Hopefully next time there'll be a lot more to post about. Happy growing Y'all!!

Glad to see they're coming back! OW's are just plain fun, I'm amazed at their resillance.

Keep it green!

I was recently reading about the research stations that are located around Antarticia. How cool, pun intended, would it be to do a complete DWC grow of some peppers there. Help the lads and lasses there stay warm from the inside out :)

So, I have a space that will be free'd up in the next week or so and I've been granted permission by "She whom must be obeyed" to put a potting Table in that space. I'm even going to be able to build it for free! Check this out for how I'm going to do just that: http://thehotpepper.com/topic/46474-pallet-tech-projects/#entry978947

and big props to romy6 who's going to help me do that by helping me to free up that space :)
