RocketMan's 2013 Glog; In The House!!

There are no gardening mistakes, only experiments." -- Janet Kilburn Phillips

I love that quote and it will try my best to remember it through this new grow. So, I'm going with only 18 varities this year as we're looking at moving to a larger house if not buying this summer and I really don't want to have to try and haul a ton of plants when we do. the ones I've selected are:

1. 7 Pot Jonah---------------------------- Pic 1
2. Aji Lemon------------------------------- romy6
3. Chili De Arbol Negro------------------ smokemaster via SocalChilihead
4. Datil-------------------------------------- Pic 1
5. Fatalii------------------------------------ Pic 1
6. Gochu----------------------------------- Stickman
7. Red Savania--------------------------- Pic 1
8. Chocolate Habanero----------------- Pic 1
9. West Indian Yellow Habanero------ Pic 1
10. Jalabanero---------------------------- SocalChilihead
11. Jalapeno------------------------------- frydad4
12. Douglah-------------------------------- Pic 1
13. Peruvian White Habanero---------- ????
14. Scotch Bonnet Jamican Red------- Pic 1
15. Thai Short----------------------------- Lieban
16. Jamican Hot Chocolate------------- ????

Alot of them are ones i started last year that never grew beyond a certain point and I'm pretty sure that a lot of it was my new grower mistakes. Since I really want to try them I'm giving them a grow again. Once again, thanks to everyone that helped me getting started with gifts of seeds and to all on here thanks for leaving your incredable words of wisdom that we can all learn from.

Cheers to a bountiful grow this year.

So, my daughter and wife are heading to Charleston, SC on Sunday for her to audition to be on the next season of X Factor. Please take a minute to stop by and wish her well. Then hopefully come September, if she makes it, we can all cheer her on.

Been there, done that ... but WTH I'll do it here as well ... I wish her Great luck & Success, that way when she's rich and famous mom & dad can retire :D

Nice little glog ya got going here RM. a little but of everything. Congratulations on the Chili contest! Question for you. You said that those Manzanos went through your Ninja; is that with seeds or do you take the time to deseed them all? Does it chop it up fine and can it handle a decent amount of powder?? I was thinking of getting one myself.

Good luck with everything you've got going in 2013. I can't wait to hear how Dani did.

Ok, I know it's way past time for an update. Have to say I haven't been a good daddy lately to the plants and they're letting me know. So,

I planted up the tomatoes, these are Black Krims. I grew these last year but they were in ground and a big rain took them out. Really looking forward to trying them.

Also planted up some Garden Beans. They're bush type so I don't have to string the up. If you look in the background you'll see the root pouch with the Ground Cherries.

I really need to rig up a bottom feeding tray for them. I've been top watering them with a sprayer so far.

Now the over winters
Thai Short, behind it is my 3 year old Rosemary plant.

Fatalii, had 2 really nice pods off of here but the ones growing in now are little and not the right shape. Maybe too close to the other plants?

The rest I have no idea of what they are. The kids took out the plastic knives when they were small and ???? :)

And all the teenagers got a tablespoon of this. Found it at Lowes when I picked up some soil.

Hi Bill, nice pics of your starts and OW plants! It looks like you folks in the southern tier of states are gonna be picking really soon if you're not already like Jamie... Hope you and your family have a happy Easter!

Sure looks like your enjoying this grow so far. The plants are just matriculating along!

Are all of your sauces fermented? That was one colorful ferment you had going there. I didn't even know you did powders. Do you sell your powders Bill? Sauces?

This update and the last one are great, man! Some established plants kickin out the flowers and new starts coming up! And that ferment looks awesome!

Thank you sir, Just wish the wind would die down some. It's blown some of the flowers off. :(
The ferments, 2 going now, have the room smelling fantastic!

Thanks Rick, it was a great Easter, well except for my 7 year old daughter waking up around 4 and not going back to sleep :)
We've had a lot of cold, ok, for Florida it's been cold, weather lately and I think it's slowed the plants up a bit but...

had to go threw whole glog,im so behind, lol. everything looks great.

Good that's it's not up to 60 or 70 pages like a few other :) Thanks Sic

Dude, I'm having a blast with them. We're currently looking to buy a home so I'm really stoked about getting to layout a nice garden with alot more than just peppers and maters.

Nope, not all of them are fermented. some sauces just dont do well when fermented. For instance sweet sauces, if you ferment a sauce with alot of fruit in it, like with the Cannon Fire, you come out with a sauce where the flavor of the fruit comes through but it's not sweet. Cannon Fire isn't the first one that I've done like that. If you go back through the Sauce section you'll find one where I made a Jamacain Sauce that had Golden Raisens, Sweet Potatoes, Ginger and Pineapple in it which was fermented. Came out fantastic. Haven't decided if i'll back sweeten the Cannon Fire any yet.

Thanks for stopping by everyone,
Bill

Bill hope all is well, sure looks like it from the glog. As you know I’m still trying to catch up with all dem glogs daily and now I’m here. Thanks for making it easy for me, others had 50 plus pages it seems ;) … but you were thinking of me and kept it to the point, lol, only jk’in mon.

We had the same cold you speak of but I’m sure not as bad as you got. Sure saves me on AC bills, summer can become expensive as you know. On the plus these last few fronts brought some needed rain and 2 days later hot and muggy but the plants loved it! Now it’s just sprinkling a little daily but not the hard rains of our rainy season. Every ting looking great, congrats on the decision to buy a house, you won’t regret it and home depot will love you :D
  • How did your daughter do in Charleston?
  • Are you going to grow the Black Krims in pots or ground this year?
Thanks for all dem kind words/wishes and prayers in mi glog. Take care mi northern FL brethren :)

Ramon, mano, glad to assist by keeping it short :)

Yeah, I love when we get the nice slow sprinkly good soaking rain. the heavy down pours that we usually get during the summers and last all of 5 minutes, those I could do without. 5 minutes of rain followed by 5 hours of muggy :( Yuck

Dani and Mary had a blast in Charleston however as soon as Dani mentioned the first thing that would have told them she was a Christian, they totally lost interest in her. She said that she didn't even think that they even listened to her at all.

the Black Krims are in Root Pouches till we get to where ever we are going to be. Then I'll probably put them in the ground. Nice thing about the Root Pouches is you can just dig the hole and plop them down in there. After about a year they decompose into the soil.

Your very welcome, I lost my dad when I was in Junior High and I know I'm going to be a mess when mom passes.

Hoping everyone has a great slid down into the weekend.

Simon Crowell is a Git anyway, so no great loss. Like most critics, he's unfamiliar with the phrase "Opinions are like a$$#@!&$... everybody has one, and everybody's stinks..."

Tried to get the Black From Tula tomatoes to pop, but no dice... I'm hoping your Black Krim 'maters do well and look forward to your take on the taste. Cheers!
