SalsaKid & Salsalady eat...a REAL BHUT!

OOPS! missed a PASTE-

coveredwineglass001.jpg

time to call Honey to take care of the grill....

burgers off the grill, kids and grownups fed, wine still safe from fruit flies....Ahhhh...it's all good!

And when it's a really good bottle of wine, I'll forgo the straw and just use the saran wrap. lift the edge, take a sip...

Laugh all you want, but when you have a glass of $35 wine tainted from a fruit fly.....saran wrap works!

Hubby thinks I'm crazy..(well, maybe I am..lol...) but I can taste the taint in a glass of wine after one fruit fly has landed in the glass.

I'm not laughing at you, sweetie....I think it's awesome!

Thanks, Pauly,

I knew that, but others might think I'm a little loony...........well, maybe I am...in more ways than can be discussed on an open forum...;)... but I am serious about being able to taste the tainted wine after a fruit fly lands in it.

OK! Back to Chiles!

Oh man that is desperate measures. My Dad used to say "don't worry you need the extra protein" well I was skinny back then LOL. I am such a booze hound I'd drink it anyway but yes I agree a good glass of wine should not get tainted.

Great job guys. As usual, you took the heat in stride even though it hurt. Can't wait to see you at the 1st Annual Pacific Northwest Chilehead Festival.

we're looking forward to the NW chile fest. Have to revive that thread in a couple days.

Later last night, honey was getting all macho and chopsy, calling the bhut a pussy pepper, so we measured out exactly 5 grams of Chocolate Bhut for each of us, kid included, and had a go at it again. NOT a good thing to do! That thing kicked all of our butts. Hubby lasted about 30 seconds before reaching for the milk, and the kid and I weren't far behind.

Between the 3 of us, we polished off 1/2 gallon of milk and 1/3 of a large bottle of Tums antacid tablets.

We'll see how pussy that pepper is when he has a story to add to TB's "tales of the loo" thread today!

I'd love to get my grubby little hands on a couple pounds of these to make sauce and powder with.....

Talk to PepperLover, don't know what quantity she has available, but they are on right now.

We still have about 5 pods, plus that monster one, and I save all the veins and seeds that I take out of the pieces for the kids. I may try to do a tomato-onion-choc bhut sauce. Those ingredients seem like they'd work to give it some body and yet still have the pepper flavor come out.

More experiments in the kitchen! :woohoo:

I DID! I made a batch of BBQ/wing sauce. I'm guessing it's a wing sauce because it fits the description THP posted in a wing sauce thread, but to tell the truth, I've never eaten classic wings. I have 5 pints of it and will bring some to the NW party. The douglah flavor got pretty masked with all the other stuff in the sauce, but it does have a good heat, and It was the inspiration to make another batch with chipotle and bhut. Gonna bring some of that also. :)

This morning, I went to get the rest of the chocolate bhuts and I can't find them! I'm serious! I lost 5 peppers. We've all looked for them, including in the freezer, the pantry, outside over the railing, and in the bathroom. Can't find them anywhere. Even looked in the garbage, just to make sure they didn't get pitched in a fit of pain since we were all in trouble in the tummies.

And if the boys were active on this forum, they would have some stories to share in TB's thread.

Maligator, if I happen to get ahold of some mild little things like jonahs or brains...are you going to eat it with us?

Ya know, as long as I have a STRONG margarita I am down to try em ;) I'm going to have to "stock up" on mix and booze to ensure I survive the party ;)

Hey Maligator, I made several Douglomlettes and Douglacos lately. That is, chopped Douglah thrown in omlettes and tacos. I know, kinda dumb, but it tasted great and provided the necessary HEAT.

I purchased some Bhut Jolokia peppers yesterday, because of your videos. I bought some yellow, red, and chocolate varieties. My friends and I can't wait to try these bad boys, and we are anticipating some serious pain! I might do a video and toss it up on Youtube if the results are comical.

Glad to be of inspiration! Wear gloves, have the milk and hurl-bucket handy, and have fun!

PS have you tried any of the less hot chiles like habs? Might consider getting a couple if you can find them at a local grocery store and at least get an idea of where it's going from there.

'Course, then again....maybe you're better off not knowing and just jump in with both feet.

LOL, I thought you get a kick out of that.
I've eaten whole habs before, and they are pretty damn bad IMO. They have them at the local grocery store and they cost next to nothing (4 cents each) since they are so light.
Just how much worse is a Ghost Pepper than a Hab?

How much worse can it be???

Well, bringtheheat, I just asked the salsakid that question and his reply was, "there's no comparison, it's like comparing Tabasco Jalapeno to Dave's Insanity."

Well, I'm not sure if it's QUITE that big of difference....but I thought you'd enjoy his comparison. :)

GO FOR IT!!!!
