SalsaKid & Salsalady eat...a REAL BHUT!

Time for a couple new videos of chiles and sauces!

Thanks to a very generous package from JSKaiser, we have several new things to try. Here's a couple videos of the first few, and more to come!

and part #3 (part #1 needs some editing...will post later...)

Looks like you guys had fun with those. Glad you enjoyed. Curious to see what becomes of it. I like the lanterns myself. Pretty tame. The BhutXDorset is no joke. Not quite as hot as the bhut, but right up there. Did you guys end up trying the Yellow 7?? Its a mean one!! :hell: :mouthonfire:

SL you and Salsa Kid are making some freakin awesome review vids!! Well done and keep them coming! Looks like you're enjoying it a lot too :)

Sterling, I hope to get out into the kitchen today after we get our Throwdown burger done. We took some to work on Friday, and the boys on the construction crew got a little education...if you know what I mean... :mouthonfire:

Haven't tasted the yello7 yet, that's definitely on the list for the next one,,,maybe today.

WOW I can't wait till I can try one of the one I grew, I hope I can handle it as well as you guys

Joey, which one you growing? And we don't always "handle" it too well.

Thanks, Mel. It is kinda fun in a scary kind of way. Especially some of these new ones we've never heard of. We don't know if they are hot or not, and then Surprize! The Paper Lantern one was delightful! Just a little heat, and wonderful flavor.

it's been a little while since we've posted any new vids, we've been waiting for our own chiles to ripen.

Here is...a REAL BHUT! and let me be the first to admit, this bhut kicked my bhutt!

I'm trying to edit part 2, but for now let me share this-

during the video around 5:00, I wipe tears out of my eyes with the back of my hand. By the time we come back to do the other little vid, the edge of my eye is burning. I'd been out in the kitch making salsa and other stuff, and while I wore gloves all the time while processing, I didn not wear gloves while washing dishes. Some capsaisin must have got onto my skin because after rubbing the edge of my eye, it burned!

Another interesting thing that happened... while doing the video I commented that my tongue felt like it was on fire. An hour after eating the chile, I was making dinner and popped a piece of hamburger that I was frying up for the spaghetti into my mouth. I had to spit it out! It was like I had eaten a red hot coal! TOTALLY not like me! And while eating our spaghetti dinner, I had to let mine cool down to luke-cold before I could get it down. My mouth felt like I had taken a huge swig of boiling water and burned my tongue.

The worst part was the 3:00am revenge!
Tummy felt great all the while after eating the chile, dinner and the rest of the evening. My gut decided to revolt around 3:00am! Woke me out of a dead sleep, and not in a good way! I spent some time in the loo, never did hurl, although it was very close for a while...and spent the rest of the night curled up in the living room.

I've had a couple chiles hit the tummy hard right after eating them, but never had the full tummy cramps! And by that time... I'm thinking...I know where the chile is at in relationship to the other food in the intestinal tract...do I really want it to come back out now?????

For everyone's twisted amusement~~~ ;)

You two are unreal! Way to go salsalady and salsakid. I have new hero's!!

I have to agree with a few of the other folks, those aren't Bhut Jolokia's.

Don't pay any attention to this post. I think I'm on drugs or something.

LOL, another great video! I actually got some bhuts from Pepperlover last week, and they were BEYOND HOT! They made the hottest sauce seem like ketchup. The burn was so intense that I had to drink so much milk that I almost threw up. I have 8 of them right now in the freezer, and they are not going to be coming out of there anytime soon. lol

thanks for the comments, folks~

logchief, SK sat this one out. We've been nibbling on red savinas and fataliis the last few days and he was not up for a big hurt.

bringtheheat, ....the "freezer of doom....lol! Just keep those little gems on ice, it won't take long for you to fine some appropriate victims...ummmm...I mean VOLUTEERS..to try them~ ;)

We picked some peruvian whites, bhuts, cayennes, fataliis, and a couple red habs/unknown reds for a family reunion tomorrow. My cousin is starting the smoker at 5:30am tomorrow, it's gonna be a good day, and I think I may find a few new chileheads! WOOHOO!

Great job Salsa Lady and Son.
I also think the Original Ghost Pepper or Bhut Jolokie is thinner.
I have an original strain of a "GIANT Ghost Pepper" that I can mail to you if you want to try to eat that one on Video.
"CAUTION...proceed at your own risk"
Fiery REgards,
Pepper Joe

Greetings pepperjoe!

Thanks for the offer(...I think??? ) We finally did eat a real bhut, a homegrown one in the last video posted, just a couple posts above these posts. After the 3:00am revenge of that bhut...I'll pass on eating another one.

Did you see any of the other videos? there's several of them through out this thread. As we tried a new chile, we'd post the new vids. It was a lot of fun, especially when the 'Kid's buddy tried one and the one with the brother-in-law.

Salsalady I watched quite a few of your hot pepper reviews.

I found them to be most entertaining and some of them looked downright painful.

One that surprised me was the Guadalupe Black Habanero pepper.

I thought that with it being a Habanero that it might not carry as much heat as say a Super Hot might, but that one seemed to have some real kick to it.

Hopefully the Salsakid and you will contunue to do more reviews next year.

dvg

Thanks, dvg, we did have fun, both growing our own chiles and eating all the wonderful varieties that came from many sources.

The Guadaloupe Black really was a suprise, probably because we weren't expecting it to be hot. But Su-PRIZE!

I hope we can do some more next year also. There's so many varieties, now I can't wait for the southern growers to stat getting pods on so we can get some more new ones. :)
