Thanks Pia, you don't have to send my anything.  If you like it, grow some next year too or share the seed, would be interesting if its offspring grew yellow as well...

Outta likes, Pia but gorgeous! Mine came in about 3 at time too until the whole mess exploded a week later. Cooler temps and again, predicting an Indian Summer. Also for the cooler temps and rain have some red rocoto pods  Looks like you're getting some too!!!  In a week, 2 when all that starts turning . . . you'll be, pulling and pulling and . . .

Da pepper Jah will spare you this year and you will have an awesome harvest, keep dem warm positive vibes flowing and my fingers are crossed like Scott's too. Great work Pia \o/

Annie I am praying for an Indian summer.  Next week looks extra cool tho.  Yesterday and day was a scorcher and I loved it.  Played hookie from work and went to the beach. It was just me and my maaannnnnn!  mid forties for the low next week tho.  Ugh!  I am super excited for the rocotos and the manzanos.  Never tasted them before.  I wanted to taste my bondas but I dont think I have even one pod on those.  OH well there is always next year.

Great work and hoping you get to pull em all before the **** weather hits you!!
YES SIR!  I am putting fish **** on them extra heavy.  It just seems when I do that, some plants start to turn their fruit quicker for me.  Probably just my imagination.

Okay, my internet connection makes it difficult to watch the videos, but I did manage to skip to minute six on the first one... those are some big pods on there!

Dang SG

Never thought of that when I decided to do all videos SORRY. Guess that's why you haven't seen those great crosses. I mixed the giver up in my vids tho; so, it's all good. I will do a pictorial correction in a week or so. Still no ripe pods past the one or two; excluding the not black naga(Hab shape) which has been consistent shape . Choc Hab too; and Jamaican hot choc. All others have been bum. Oh mystery wrinkle red and Fatallit X Red Savina is prolifi. They have been ripening. But the, other plants are sooooooo not ripening with hundreds of pods .

Hi Pia,
You need to put down black plastic mulch before you set your plants outside. The sun warms the soil much more efficiently then, and it keeps down weeds to boot. We Nortenos need all the edge we can get!

Is warm soil what promotes ripening?

Wow Pia the garden has really come along nicely. I predict some amazing harvests soon .  You have a boast load of pods just patiently awaiting there transformation. .  :fireball:

And yes,  warmer makes pods ripen much faster.

What Jamie said, yes. The warm soil radiates that warmth into the air making for a warmer microclimate for the plants to grow in. They end up blooming more quickly in the early season and have more time to ripen. Of course, the flip side becomes evident during the hottest part of midsummer... the plants that are susceptible to the heat and drop their blossoms if it's too hot need to be partially shaded then. Watering also requires some ingenuity when using plastic mulches because the water rolls right off. That isn't a problem when it rains, because so much water is falling that it spreads out to cover everything, but when you're out there with the hose or watering can you want to make sure they get enough, but not too much, so I took the caps off of half-liter water bottles and cut off the bottoms also... then buried them upside down next to each pair of seedlings with an inch showing above the soil. I planted my peppers in a double row and buried a water bottle between each pair of plants. That way I knew that each plant would get about a cup of water next to the roots each time I watered. It also made it easy to add liquid fertilizer, since I would just add it to the water when it was time to irrigate.
