chinense Scotch Bonnet varieties

Not to me ..... fruity and maybe a little smokey. When I think of musky , I think earthy or if you say sweet musky I think of of Musk oil. They may taste different to you. And you might well describe the aroma differently than others.

Peace,
P. Dreadie

I'm thinking musky as in wet goat. Aren't they known for having the flavor/smell of the he-goat? That's what most of the histories of them say. I know I kind of get that taste/smell when I have jerk.

wet goat does not smell good at all.

peppers smell more like.... a heavily spiced middle eastern dish.... hehe....sorry can't think of anything better.

Have you ate one ???? Jerk has allspice , green onions, thyme , yada yada .... the Scotch Bonnets are in there but there's more of other things. If Scotch Bonnets tasted or had the aroma of a wet goat I think I'd pass on them. My Jerk also doesn't taste/smell like a goat.

Peace,
P. Dreadie

I have to say...my goats don't smell badly. As long as they have fresh bedding and good food they are ok. Don't get me wrong...I have smelled really stong scented goats before and it's a real PITA to clean off your hands! Alcohol cleaner or toothpaste work the best ;)

Is anyone able please verify if http://www.chillibird.com.au/chillibird.com.au/Scotch_Bonnet_Yellow.html is a Scotch Bonnet?

The description mentions that Jamaican Yellow is another name for a Scotch Bonnet Yellow. The name Jamaican Yellow is used to refer to Capsicum Annuum varieties elsewhere.

I plan on growing a Scotch Bonnet variety next season.

these look a lot closer to a scotch bonnet pepper

just grabbed a couple pictures online.... don't have any pods yet. =(

harry ..... The Jamaican Gold is also NOT a Scotch Bonnet .... just making sure you know that. CCN shows a Yellow Scotch Bonnet if you want to see a picture of what I think a Scotch Bonnet should look like. This thread also shows some great pictures. And with all respect franzb69 .... I don't think your photos look like I what think a S. B. should look like.

If your wanting a S.B. and maybe get a truer view of them I'd say stay way from Chocolates and things like that. I never saw those in Ja.

Peace,
P. Dreadie

There's some pics of a few scotch bonnets varieties in the Peppermania photo gallery:

- TFM scotch bonnet

- Foodarama scotch bonnet

- True jamaican scotch bonnet (the jamaican scotch bonnet that i've grown from peppermania seeds doesn't look like this (pics above in the topic). i don't know if it's another strain, or a wrong photo, or hybridized seeds ???)

Those seeds will be available in the fall : Peppermania seeds preview.

By the way, the spiked scotch bonnet looks pretty cool P. Dreadie. :)

The supposed story behind the Foodarama Scotch Bonnet is that someone found the bonnets in a Foodarama store and grew them out...

They are my favorite...favorite enough for me to order 10 packs of seeds from Beth at Peppermania...already got a 72 cell tray planted and have a few sprouts and hooks...

gorgeous pods IMO
