seed-train seeds train 2012

Guess I figured wrong, seed train just arrived. Going out to Jane on Monday. There goes today's work, I've got seeds to sort and can't be bothered with work!!

One tip everyone: Don't pay the $6.10 at the post office to ship the seed train, go to USPS online and only pay $5.15. Just my 2 cents worth. :woohoo:Now to the seed.......  Oh, what to keep a few of   Sooo many varieties......

Curt

it took me like 1.5 hours to write on little baggies and take all the varieties I wanted and look up pictures and pull a few seeds of each type and bag them...

lol.. totally worth the 6 bucks to mail it out in my head... tons of seeds...

lots of good varieties that I have not seem people trading...

cant wait for it to make back around to me. got in some interesting seeds to add to the train .it will definately be worth the wait for the second group.

Mark you're sure right about the variety of seeds, one type of seed alone was worth a lost days work, the Peppadew seeds. I've been looking for those seed for the last couple months and had almost given up hope of having them for this year, then the seed train arrives at my door. I kept 10 seeds and left plenty for those downtrack from me. They're already soaking for planting tomorrow.

I refilled a couple types of seeds that were low and added a few new types of seed to the booty. Now it's ready to hit the tracks again, this time to Denver.

stc3248 I didn't see any Orange Hab seed, but if you really need some, I'll put a pack in for you.

No...I was just messing around. I have about 200 orange hab seeds. I just can't buy habs without saving them...and then I don't plant them. lol. I have Caribbean Red, Red Lantern, Peruvian White and Chocolate up and running...not a big fan of orange, but that is what the store carries so I eat them until something better ripens. People on a train from last year complained that Jals and Orange Habs were all that was in there when it got to them...our train is not suffering the same fate!!!

We have some pretty creative and generous folks on this one. Can't wait to see what else has been added. I spent a couple hours on google the first time the train stopped by trying to figure out what some of them were.

Just messing with your head also, I did refill the Purple Bhut Jolokia seeds also. You might be interested in those. There is a ton of other stuff to like also.

Already got some purples...I think the only color I'm lacking is Orange Bhut wise. I was given 2 lonely seeds, and neither popped for me. I got bhuts coming out of my ears. Really would like some Rocotos....I have Manzanos up and running, but would like the fancier pubes... :) .

Yes! I'm ready for a few more seeds and have many more to share.

One of the reasons this train has such unique seeds in comparison to trains on other forums, is that the people here KNOW about different peppers and are willing to try out new varieties. Some gardeners aren't educated or don't want to be educated other than what they know. Change is difficult in all areas of life.

I say 'go for it' and try the new. You never know what you're missing unless you try. :)

exactly...

Which is why I have 111 varieties currently on my grow list... lol...

I plan to pack that thing out when it eventually gets to me.

I do the same thing shane - I have a large ziplock that all my orange Hab seeds go into... Can't seem to toss them, but don't really plant them either.

Might make some good root stock for frankenpeppers though :D

Would the person who added the Peppadew seeds to the seed train please PM me. I'd like to buy some more Peppadew seeds from you, if you have any to spare. Thanks

Seed train will be chugging out of my station tomorrow heading West, next stop Mile High City. Catherinew sure has the reason this train is so successful pegged down, the people here care and are willing to accept new ideas, be it plant or method.

Just for everyone on here info...the 2 Scotch Bonnet seeds that I planted off the train are looking sort of annuum...ish. I may be wrong, but it may not be pure. :( Anyone else plant them??? If so what do yours look like? Oh well I like surprises!

Here's a pic of on of the two I have going, the other looks the same...

The train just arrived late this afternoon. Just planted 10 of the Peppadew - though quite late in the season. First things first. Then added lots more seeds and now it's on its way to IL in the morningl Thanks for the Peppadew!

Saweeeeet. I should see them mon. Or tue. Can't wait! Im going to have to see what this whole peppadew is all about. Thanks for the update Catherine.

Thanks! Its definitely trying to impress! It has about 20 side shoots that have broken completely out from under the canopy. Thinking of planting one of the 2 I got going in a hanging basket and the other in the ground. Whoever added it I would love more info on tepin #15? I think that's what it was labeled??? A PM with info about this plant would be great! Also trying to figure out what the scotch bonnets might be crossed with...pretty sure they're not true. They are growing almost identical to the fish peppers...wonder if that's the potential cross? Might be cool...a variegated bonnet shaped pod with a combo of flavors! I should be so lucky! Did anyone else try them???

Alright, the train came in today in one piece. Thanks Catherine and everyone else who contributed. I resupplied and sent it on its way to Pash in CA.
