I hope to get about 140 of these transplanted this evening.

SS,

Is that nursery a regular provider of your seed? Never seen them before but am now intrigued.

It's the http://chiligrower.com store front. They raise all of their seed and have a huge chili garden. I've planted several varieties from them this season and all are doing very well. Their farm is a huge family endeavor and I watched this variety of Manzano perform in their garden last season and was greatly impressed with its productivity and size while growing in full sun. If it does half as well for me this summer I'll devote a full row to these next season.

I believe I've seen them post in the marketplace from time to time as well... When a certain vendor started getting 27$ for 10 of the Moruga's, and 20 other seeds people didn't want, they had a pretty good deal going. I don't remember the specifics, and I didn't purchase anything (as I already had seeds for that going).

Appreciated fellas.

Looking great! That ButchT Yellow looks pretty interesting. Is that your cross or someone else's? What is it crossed with?
Nope, not my cross. It's crossed with a yellow scorpion, but see below....

Good memory. :)

Well, it doesn't look like the BT cross will be yellow, but it's still a keeper.

The purple stems on this Cajamarca make it stand out in the garden.

OOOhhhhhh, gnarly poddage, my friend!

Dude.. Seeing the difference in a months time is absolutely nuts!
I see that kind of growth for a month or 2 at the most out of the entire season. I'm green with envy!
Looking great SS. Those TSBT Yellow pods look MEAN.
Are those babies turning brown or red? Either way. Definitely a keeper!!

Brandon

Thanks fellas.

Definitely red Brandon, I picked it today.

Chilies are slowly getting there.

Muskmelons have a few on.

A storm hit me again 2 days ago and laid down some corn. The peppers I could prop up again, but the corn will have to fend for itself.

I'm so glad to see you grew those St. Helena George peppers. I'm calling them St. Helena George peppers because they are far different from any variety we have seen (supposedly) from St. Helena. Have you got any ripe ones yet? I have tons of pods but no ripe ones.

i always love looking at your amazing garden! i can wait till its a jungle again!

Thanks, I just hope it leaves a little room between rows this season. :)

A few pod shotz.

The Brains are beginning to cogitate.

No, none ripe yet, but it shouldn't be long now. The plants are really loaded and I can't wait to taste em.

Hey SS,

Two things.

1. What kind of Jalapenos are those?

2. What the HELL are you gonna do with all that okra. I know cowpeas freeze well, but okra? Plan on building a new deck?

I like okra, at someone elses house. At the grocery store... Just not on my plate... Its the one thing I will refuse to eat.

I've tried them a number of ways, and have never ever found a way that I like...

hope that is a brown Douglah x Butch T and not just red next year i am moving in with you lol
Great, I can always use some help picking. :)

Looking great! I love the folliage and flowering on the mazano.
Now if it would just produce some pods. ;)

The penos are Biker Billys grown from saved seed from last season. Well all are except the one large pod which is a Giant Jalapeno grown from seed I got from Judy. I'm trying to see if the Bikers are hybrids; the jury is still out.

I can't get enough fried okra. Last season I grew a full row, but this season I only have a little over half a row. Two seasons ago I had 2 full rows, but was trying out several different types and was buried in the stuff. After sampling several different kinds, I've settled on one variety now; Fife Creek Cowhorn.

wow very very very amazing plants and pods and your garden is humungous :fireball:
Thanks, but size is relative. My garden is tiny compared to what I grew many years ago and very small compared to some other growers here. And I'm always running out of space.

Compost the okra... its the only thing Okra is good for.
Blasphemy!!!

u can grill the okra i love them :drooling: with some filipino dishes they will be good
I like it pickled too with some garlic and a few hot pods added to the brine.

Cut it into one inch chunks, dip it in an egg milk wash, roll it in cornmeal with a little flour seasoned with salt and pepper powder and deep fry it in vegetable oil at 370 degrees. My fave finger food and a little horse radish dip goes well with it too. :)
