As shown on my glog thread it did drop below 32°f last night.

So, at 2:30am I found that items designed for one purpose can be used for other things.

Yep, Grow Bag mania! The heavy duty frost protection.

And these(summer squash) I covered with a cheap Harbor Freight tarp. They look OK at this time.

So, bug season is coming and as noted on my peppers glog I just recently had some aphids. I am dusting these days instead of spraying. This is the dusting tool/device I use. The outlet spout can be turned in any direction so it works equally well getting the underside of the leaves.

I have been using a 50/50 mix of these items.

I just gave some of the pepper plants(that were even remotely suspect for aphids) a quick dusting.

No squash issues like mildew this time of the year?
This is generally our dry season but we occasionally have the odd weather patterns like everywhere else. We recently had a few foggy nights and heavy rain showers. It seems that certain types of squash are more resistant to powdery mildew. I have 2 types growing, one has a few spots on the leaves and the other does not.

Always had problems getting female flowers.
I never get a lot on them, usually 2 or three per plant. I have 2 plants out of six with one small(softball size) pumpkin on each at this time so at least I won't end up with nothing!
