Man, it looks like late Spring again. Things are looking good SB.

Things are getting a little later than I wanted but I’ll just see how it goes.

I guess I better post some of these pics before they have aged too much.
The Aloe are blooming again.

I harvested some of my ginger.

Last year I had one out of season pineapple, this year I have three.

I FINALLY planted out my Passion Fruit plants that have been in 3 liter pots for over a year and had been cut back many times. Hopefully they grow well and produce many fruits. I grew these from seed.

Now that the rainy season is on its last legs, I find that my tomatoes have a more pronounced taste profile. Sweeter, more of that tomato-specific flavour, and less juicy. How's that in FL?

It's somewhat similar but my problem in the hot rainy season is having them crack. When they crack in that season the bugs descend on them almost immediately by the hundreds/thousands, they look black from a distance when that happens.

I picked the first of the cauliflower yesterday.

I found a fairly large grub under the container.

Over the last couple of weeks most of the cabbages and cauliflower have been picked, and about half of the Kossak Kohlrabi.

THP is really starting to feel like home now that I've found a VeggieGLOG. Your harvest! The pineapples... I can only dream.

I am SO going to start a GOLOG as well. (Just give me some time to recuperate. This rickety body needs some time on the couch after a garden workout day.)

I picked my last three Kossak Kohlrabi this afternoon. I have a few recipes I want to try out with these.

Unrelated to the above, if you have a tomato stalk like this, you have "root knot nematodes" and the plant is doomed to an early unproductive death.

Little lizard, my watering can would hardly pour and then out popped this guy.

The fungal biocontrol agent, Trichoderma harzianum, was evaluated for its potential to control the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne javanica. In greenhouse experiments, root galling was reduced and top fresh weight increased in nematode-infected tomatoes following soil pretreatment with Trichoderma peat-bran preparations. The use of a proteinase Prb1-transformed line (P-2) that contains multiple copies of this gene improved biocontrol activity in the greenhouse experiments compared with the nontransformed wild-type strain (WT). All the Trichoderma strains showed the ability to colonize M. javanica-separated eggs and second-stage juveniles (J2) in sterile in vitro assays, whereas P-2 also penetrated the egg masses. This protease-transformed line presented the same nematicidal and overall proteolytic activity as the WT in in vitro tests in which concentrated soil extracts from Trichoderma-treated soils immobilized the infective J2. However, the J2 immobilization and proteolytic activities of both P-2 and the WT were higher than those obtained with strain T-203. Characterization of the activity of all Trichodermastrains soil extracts on J2 showed that it was heat resistant and restricted to the low-molecular-weight fraction (less than 3 kDa). It is suggested that improved proteolytic activity of the antagonist may be important for the biological control of the nematodes.
