Super cool GIP sent me some dried maui purple pods a ways back and I continue to love the sharp, bright heat they bring. Been crushing and sprinkling them on most of my food for the last month or so - they're kinda like restaurant pizza flake save they're actually hot and great tasting. 
 
We picked up a chicken from our farmer last week.  I gave it a 24 hour brine, then we spatchcocked it and put it in the smoker with some apple chunks.  Maui purple flakes added to my normal chicken rub, then I added about 2 tsp to our normal potato salad recipe.  It was a great meal.  Much obliged GIP.

I'm glad your enjoying them pods.
It's a pretty interesting plant too.  Beautiful purple and white flowers with green foliage occasionally blushed with purple anthocyanins when in direct sunlight for most the day, pods that ripen from purple to red.
The plant grows kinda spindly but puts out so many pods

Grilled bone in chop, roasted cauliflower & a new grain (for me) called freekeh.  Kinda like quinoa but better.  Some sauteed shrooms & onions on the side.

i dunno man i was like, whoa    lookin' at the pic, but when i read Nardellos in sauce, thats when i started to salivate
