Ok.. Im a rookie so excuse me or my ignorance. This seems like the perfect place for this question.   Are my bhuts orange, or do they need to stay on a little longer?  Ive got 2 off so far and they have both been this color.

From my experience try leaving them on just a little longer.  Can't hurt to find out.
That plate of bhuts looks awesome. I will have to snag some picks of ones from my OW. They look like they may be similar to what you are looking for in that red.

Dark orange to red is optimal... just your preference...

Yellow Bhuts.  The shape wasn't great this year, but the color, taste, and productivity were fantastic.

My yellow bhuts are awful on pheno but on the other hand my Jay's peach are gnarly!

I'm thinking of maybe only growing red peppers next year.. although I did pollinate a peach bhut with some j's peach pollen... might be worth growing out.

Most excellent stuff here!!!!

You guys are developing out some real interesting crosses. :)

This is my second favorite time of the year (getting ripe pods). My most favorite time of the year is sowing seeds. :)

Thanks Trent.  Crosses are fun, but I've been making fewer and fewer.  This one might be promising.  Fresh pods are the prize  .

Do you ever grow out seeds from non-isolated plants just to "see what happens?"

I've got over 70 varieties in the garden this year and I've been kicking around growing out some {parent} x ???? just for the hell of it.

I don't have a lot of space, so I try to stick to isolated seed.  If I grow out "open pollinated" seed, then I try to keep seed from different pods separate, to increase the chances one of them will grow true.

Everything is looking great Charles! Your yellows are looking tasty. I've been unfortunately dealing with some water damage. When we get rain it comes in buckets and some of the thicker-fleshed pods, like the yellows, tend to explode. Or a little damage gets turned into a ton of damage by the dampness and bugs. Anyway, I think I'll have enough to round out another sauce batch or two... my preferred use for supers I think.
