My 10 year old is responsible for the artwork on the cups!

I think my issues were mostly my short window, and some low temps-leave them no shows in the cooker.....maybe I'll get a suprise growin out out the discarded seed trays when I GET HOME. Bug be gone good on those little bastidges?I'm gonna unleash a wicked fungus on em,and the huge colony of fire ants that took over my 35 gallon pot......evil psychotic laughter....! I should be able to slip ya some fresh Kavals- ended up with 2 out of 4.

Might take a few pics of the indoor plants tomorrow. The ones outside while kicking some a$$ are a little chomped on and not too photogenic...
Night All!
Hope your grows are as much fun as mine...Aphid/slug battle included.

Some pics of my indoor plants...
P1000353.jpg

Group Photo the ones in the near tray were the sickest of my plants from the soil experiments the second one up or the rt side of the tray is a Fatalii stick that I almost threw out after it fried in the GH...new growth at the nodes now! Still a long shot, but who knows??? They now look friggen amazing!

P1000352.jpg

Another group shot from the other end...near shot are my latest group of starts except the two little guys in the middle...they are a couple of Chocolate Bhuts that decided to take their sweet a$$ time hooking up.

P1000256-1.jpg

One of my original sic plants pics taken a couple weeks apart...

P1000351.jpg

The Scotch Bonnet's have me a little worried...they are looking a little Annuum-ish. The seeds were out of a seed train, so no telling what they will end up being??? Anyone with SB experience notice they shoot up quicker than other Chinenses? Their leaf shape is annuum-ish too...

P1000346.jpg

P1000348.jpg

The secondary growth is crazy on a bunch of my plants under the lights! I am thinking the angled T8's on the sides might be promoting this???

Woo Hoo! Cooking with gas now!!!

Today is another garden prep day...going to be around 90 degrees today!!! Woot! Going to start things off with an aphid inspection then some bulbs in the ground for momma...
Thanks for looking!!!
Shane

Loving the pics with those sweet labels. :D

Keep them comings. I have to get a camera so you can actually see when I get a shot of a pod.

What camera are you using for your pics??

It's just a Panasonic Lumix point and shoot type camera...Takes pretty good pics, but it's hard to get the auto focus to actually focus on what you want it to...I would love to get a real cam, but this one does ok! Thanks for the compliment, don't know how many more I will do like that, kinda time consuming to edit them in photobucket.

awesome update Shane things are looking great for you I see. I have also been slowing moving things outside myself due to this awesome weather so far.

Things are lookin great for you Shane. Gotta look at it this way, even if you loose a few, you are gonna have WAY more than enough to haze the new Chiefs with....

What is the total number (about) you are shooting for going into the ground?

Holy cow, those leaves on the Wild Brazil look super fat! Mine is getting a slow start.

And that Tepin looks like it is going to explode once it gets outside. Nice work!

That's a great question! I think I have around 120 plants...of which about 110 are in pretty good shape. I ran my soaker hose and started digging holes today. I should be able to get around 60-70 in the ground and another 25-30 in pots. I plan to get rid of some and may not plant out quite that many. I will keep at least one of each variety and several Jalapeno/cayenne.
I should have put some in the ground this weekend...but I kept hitting speed bumps. I cut the sprinkler pipe twice and had to repair it, had to clean the pool filters, lay out the soaker and get it hooked up, I had to redo it several times and I still don't quite have it right. I suppose we'll see!?!?!

Thanks! The weather has been awesome! Over 80 here today, only problem is these cool nights. I guess that is just what you get in Cali.

Those are two of my absolute favorite plants! I have 2 each and they're all going off like that. The little tepins are only a couple inches high but have dozens of side shoots. Those are going to be some really bushy little plants.

Thanks again guys!
I'll be checkin in on each of you often!
Shane

I have both Tepins, and wild brazil in the mail on their way to me... pretty excited about that :D

Even cooler seeing what they are going to look like in no time :).

Mine are really making me look good! They both have tons of secondary stems shooting off everywhere and are growing like crazy! Some people claim to have trouble germinating their tepins, but mine popped pretty quick. Less than a week I think??? I actually rearranged the grow shelf so I have a little more room tonight and had to resist the urge to snap a couple more pics. I'm trying to wait for the weekend to do my updates...so hard to do when I am such a proud poppa!

My graft is still alive, but I won't know if it took for at least another week. I think I am going to slowly slide the peat pellet down the roots and try to graft as I go. I will then stop watering the scion and see if it starts to droop too much which I would think would be an indication that its not getting what it needs from the host. I just had another couple more Peruvian White Habs pop which puts me up to 4...way too many! I may attempt to graft one of them onto the same plant. We shall see...hell I am tempted to try the yellow bhut that sprouted on there too since I have three of them up and running already...I dunno...I guess I'll just wing it and figure it out along the way.

Thanks for looking!
Shane

haha you sound like me...

From what I understand, an approach graft can take upwards of a month to set properly...

Might want to give it more than a week I would think... Do you have pictures up of your graft?

One of the best small cameras on the market! The Leica lens is superb.
I take my pics with a Nikon S550, but I think the panasonic is nicer - my
wife has one.

Okay, Shane, you keep blowin' me away - your plants just keep looking better and better.
The before and after shot of the of the red caribbean is very graphic evidence of your
skill as a plant doctor! Sounds like the graft is hanging in there - can't wait to see how
it turns out after another few weeks. Seth wants a cloning 101 thread - maybe we should
start a cloning/grafting 101 thread at the end of the season and see what develops.

The b&w pic with the green pepper is way cool : ) Have you tried Photoshop Elements?
My favorite version is Elements 2, and I bet you can find that really cheap - I have no idea
what iteration they are on now. I also have Elements 4, but i like 2 better for it's resizing ease -
can go direct to pixels w/o saving for web.

You're having 80 and 90 degree weather? Oh, yeah! We're dancing in the streets
here because we're forecast fot 61 tomorrow, after 29 last night : )
To the NW Pack - OUR DAY WILL COME!

"Woo Hoo! Cooking with gas now!!!"
Gas my *ss!....maybe Gas Turbine! Those babies are 3.8 evals...
?? Petin's I thought were hairless....gonna have to eye ball em closely when I get feet dry again..hmm??
I've got some issues, but having to "tread lightly" to get them adressed...but I just lined up a Quick Reaction Force ready for back up on Sunday,

who is going to pot up about 70% of em for me, as he says they need get into some bigger pots pronto.
My log isn't on here because of the Photobucket process, and coupled with limited bandwidth issues-way too long of a process.

PM sent ealier would be relevent, so take a look if the mood strikes-

Yeah, a few of the varieties have me a little worried. Think I have some crosses going on. Don't know about the Tepin, but I know looking at the ones Paul has planted the growth habit is completely different. Hard to tell based solely on growth due to the differences in environment they're growing in. I think they were labeled tepin #2 when I got them from the seed train. I have never grown most of these varieties so I'm in the dark a bit. I am also worried about the Scotch Bonnets because they are shooting up like annuums and have a different leaf shape than most of my other Chinenses. I'm cool with crosses from free seeds it will add to the surprise.

I like that little camera, the only issue I have with it is the autofocus being a bit picky.
Thanks for the kind words about my plants, I think they are looking really good more in spite of than because of me. I have figured out that more is better in the light category. Another drastic difference, and my indoor plants are now doing better than the ones in the greenhouse. The outdoor plants have been handicapped a bit more due to the pests I have been battling, but having a heater out there and real sunshine I thought would have produced better than the CFL's indoors???
As far as photoshop I'm too cheap to try it. I have been using photobucket for my edits and it is pretty limited and very slow. I actually had to lower the camera resolution to cut down on upload and edit time, so the camera is capable of producing even higher quality images.

You are the right person for the job on the cloning 101 topic! It remains to be seen if I am up to snuff on the grafting portion. I really don't think I cut into the scion seedling enough on this go around, only time will tell. I have the plant indoors for now and will move it back outside this weekend. I think I am going to try another one this weekend as well. We shall see.

A little irratated with the weather forcast. They called for a low of 33 last night so I took the time to pull all the tomato trellises back off of my tomatoes and covered them with buckets (didn't want to dirty a laundry basket full of sheets) only to wake up to 47 degrees. I am now officially done waiting/waffling on my decision to pot up and plant out. I am planting them this weekend! I have a couple saw horses and another roll of plastic to make a shelter for the ones that go into 5 gallon containers if need be, and I will just run Christmas lights on my thermostat to all the in ground plants, and if I lose some I lose some...

Thanks again fellas!
Shane

That's the spirit, buddy! Forge on!
Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead!
I hope you have nothing but success as you move outside.
But you make a good point, when we go outside, we encounter
a whole new set of issues! Life is good

I bet you can find photoshop elements 2 on ebay or something for a few
bucks - it's at least 5-8 years old, maybe more. I've been using
it for so long, I've forgotten. Uh-oh, senior moment. Stop laughing,
your turn will come!

Ok, I couldn't resist a few updates. So by request...

I had to resist taking any more, I was really trying to hold out for the weekend. I am sure I will post some more tomorrow since I just found out I am taking the day off!!!

Thanks for looking!

I HATE the local weather forcast!!! Night before last they called for a low of 33 so I covered everything and it only got down to 47...last night they call for a low of 46 and it felt cooler than that so I checked the weather again it was 38 and they were calling for a low of 38. I covered everything again just to be safe, and I wake up to ice on the cars this morning! Ughhhhh at least I covered them.

Yeah Kentucky weather isn't much better. Only in Kentucky can you go from widespread tornadoes on a Friday, to 6 inches of snow the following Monday, then to near 70 degree temps and sunny on Wednesday.

Thats rough brother.

The weather here has been different than normal as well... Its unseasonably windy, dry, and hot.

The last two are not so bad, but the wind took down one of my plants =/ I haven't posted about it yet, but will be when I come back with pictures.
