Wow Shane another awesome harvest that sucks though you have to pull them out hopefully you can convince her to let you keep going since we still have a good 2 1/2 months of growing. If I have anything you need just shot me a pm. What is your list looking like for the new season? Good luck brother

Hi Shane
If I had a harvest like yours i know I'd be getting the same message from my wife... solidarity brother... I'm getting grumblings about the time I'm spending dealing with the harvest I do have...

Which leads me to my next question...I'm starting to plan next year's garden and figure you'd be a good one to ask since you've planted and sampled a very broad range of superhots... Which one do you like the best for flavor? The generous folks at THP have shared a lot of their pods with me but it'll take quite a while for me to taste them all so I'm looking for some advice to winnow through the large list. I'm severely limited for planting space... that's why I need to limit it to one variety. Thanks for your input!

Hey Rick, I know you weren't asking me, but it's an interesting question, so here's my thoughts fwiw,

Depending on what you want to cook it with - I really like the red bhut for burgers and chili and things like that. However, overall I think my favorite superhot is the yellow 7 Pot. I like the taste, it packs a punch, and can be dried or sauced. Plus the plant is an awesome plant.

Just posted the same vote over on his Glog...Hard to beat the yellow 7's or Yellow Scorpions for production, taste and versatility. The Bhuts unique flavor and usable heat make it a close second.

Brother Shane. Sorry been slacking on logs but I have been reading them. Just not replying. I liked the pics of the nasty plants ( i was the only one) but I did not mean it as in I am liking. Just like your positive manner and persistance. You still are having some of the biggest and widest varieties of harvest west of the mason dixon I have ever seen. Tell the boss to chillax and let men know what seeds you want. I am saving some nasty crosses for ya!!!!

Thanks for weighing in Shane and Andy, it's all grist for the mill!

Man Shane, there must be something in all that Cali Sun and Water that your pods are just lovin it virus or not. Those are some really nice, big just doesn't seem like the right word, maybe Hugh, pods. The Manzanos, are they like a Yellow Rocoto? Kind of look that way in the pics to my untrained eye at least.

Maybe adding some Mater, carrots, onions, you know all the stuff you would use for a sauce any ways will help make the Master Chief feel better about your peppers. :)

Man Shane, as always great harvest shot my brother! You know I'll take a box whenever you got one. Do you know what the virus is? That sucks so bad that it got so many plants that's for sure! Keep up the great work on the rest of them all.

Eric

West of the Mason Dixon and South of the Mississippi! I thought we were friends until you liked those ugly pics!!! I'm so over it...I have more than I can handle with the rest of the plants...all good brotha!

Manzano/Rocoto-TomAto/tomato Same thing different name. I refer to momma as the Secretary of War and Finance. Hopefully I can get her to see the light...

Can't talk business here...but I will be offering up most of the remaining harvests over in the market place. Will be a bit before I have any more harvests the size of the last couple, but they're loading up again. The virus is Pepper Mild Mottle Virus (PMMoV) it can be transmitted through pests, handling, soil and seeds...just about the worst possible combination. No biggie, I got more pods than I can handle!

@Andy...think we just got lucky!

Alright Shane, I just went thru 3 months of your glog! It took me 3 days to do it :) DO YOU HAVE TO UPDATE EVERYDAY! Just kidding of course.

I can't believe what I've seen though, pods for days my friend. Never would have expected the few diing plants with all the pods you've been getting! And the awesome dishes you've been making with them

32 hours on a treck like that, must have slept for a month afterwards :).

Good grow man, I'll be around more often.
Aaron

Wow Shane! More great harvests. And you know you are harvesting a lot of pods when you run out of room for the groceries. I hope you find a solution to the problem because it would suck to have to pull the plants when you still have so much growing that can be done. You need to dehydrate what you have to make some room for newcomers. Or start selling!

Had some fun catching up on your outstanding, in many ways, grow, brother!
Your harvest pics still blow me away, even after all the pics you've posted. In
a way I'm glad my harvests are small, I don't know what I'd do with all those pods :D
I think I'll wind up with a enough dried pods to keep me going with some flakes, and
maybe a few to share as well. Flowering has pretty much stopped on a lot of plants
since the nights are averaging about 5 degrees cooler now. The nice afternoons
have kept ripening up happening.

That sandwich you posted a few pages back looks like a throwdown winner
to me, my friend. What a meal! That one really got the juices flowing. Pretty
good training table you've got going there, my man!

Hope you enjoy the weekend, Shane. Do you really have 2 1/2 months of
growing weather there, as Fernando said?

The virus that your plants had, I have/had the exact same problem. It started at plant 2 in a row and took out 6 total plants. The only one to remain is a sick weak looking 7 pot. It almost has zero leaves and no new flowers but a few pods struggling to ripen. I could not find anything to save the plants and I had the same issue last year very close tot he same area. Grrrr, GREAT HARVESTS you have as always.

@ Aaron...the updates have been coming much less frequently lately, but I know I am a post-a-holic. Thanks for enduring that much anguish! I've enjoyed the ups and downs of my season, its been a fun ride!

@ Brian...thanks man! I should have a couple more decent harvests left for sure. Then they'll slowly fade. I am going to try my best to find good homes for the pods, either in raw or processed form. So fingers crossed I can get ahead of the game in the next couple weeks.

@ Denniz...you're welcome my man! I know you've been a little pod challenged on your grow, and have had some issues. So giving you a few of what I got is the least I could do. Enjoy! Just remember to be certain not to handle your plants after the pods and not to save any seeds from them. Just enjoy the burn!

@ Ken...thanks man! I know you've got some good stuff going on yourself in the powder department. Hope your new locale and starts work well for you!

@ Paul...Thanks for the compliments on the sammich, I really do love to cook and wish I had more time to do it. As far as the season goes, I should still have stuff going into December, but the weather here is kinda tricky. I think on average the first frost is a week or two before Christmas, but can be as early as Halloween.

@ JHP...PMMoV gets into the soil, so from my research you should sterilize or let it rest for several seasons before trying to use that spot. Keep on top of any volunteer plants coming up in that area too. I plan to attempt to sterilize some soil by spreading it on a large tarp and covering it with clear plastic with only a few inches air gap. The greenhouse effect in there should heat it to well over the 125 degree temps required to kill the virus. I will post pics once I work it all out.

Thanks for the kind words and stopping in everyone...I should be home again tomorrow, don't think the harvest will be "as" robust this week. We shall see!!!
The weekend is coming!!!
Shane

hopefully you don't have to kill off all your plants... though doing so might halt the virus in its tracks?

from what I understand napalm can be made by mixing styrofoam and gasoline (with some diesel)...

Might be a more satisfying end to the infected plants. Not sure if it would sterilize the soil or not... but one can hope :)

"Did you know that if you mix equal parts
of gasoline and equal parts frozen orange juice
concentrate, you can make napalm?"

"No, I did not know that, is that true?"

"That's right. One can make all kinds of
explosives using simple household items."
