More and more of the pods are looking like this. The sick ones are more susceptible to sunburn and lesions. Tossed several HUNDRED pods that look like this today.

The Birds...there's a bunch of Chickens with crutches somewhere!

Thanks for checkin in folks! See you next weekend!

Looking great Shane especially the powder and chicken. Another great harvest brother I had a few pods that also got sunscold last week hopefully this week will be a different story I have to havest tomorrow before they overripen. Awesome shot of the brains mmm :drooling:

Hi Shane
It's nice to see that you're still getting pretty good harvests... I only got half a hatful yesterday, and the numbers are dropping. How much longer would you say your season will extend? excellent shots of the smoked chicken and your powder production line. Looking at your chile output warms the cockles of my heart every time I come here! Good on ya!
Btw... what was that home made sauce you put into the chicken marinade?

Dang Shane, really nice pull there. Your season has been fantastic. Man if I had a load of Scotch Bonnets like that I wouldn't have to go talk to the Produce manager about getting some. Those are beautiful! I'm really looking forward to seeing just how long your plants keep pumping them out.

Grow on!

Damn Shane that manzano powder looks great. For all the setbacks I would have to say your season was beyond kick ass. I have been loving your smoked yellow 7 powder. Been wanting to make some too but I always end up eating them before they make it to the freezer. Now I don't have to worry for a few months.

Chicken looks super tasty too and the harvest shots never get old. Glad the wife didn't pull rank on ya

You have a great week too :fireball:

Thanks Fernando! The sickest plants seem more susceptible to scalding, plus they drop a ton of leaves so there is less protection. Mother natures way of keeping my freezer from overflowing. I powdered 4 gallon bags plus one quart bag of pods this weekend...and just about broke even. The Brain has been steady but not overly impressive with its numbers. It does put out some awesome and HOT pods though!

My season is slowing for sure. Without the sickness I would still be covered up in pods, but they're dying back pretty quick now. A few are still putting on flowers and pods and probably will until the end of November...

The sauce is some Chocolate Bhut BBQ sauce I made a while back. Its a little too thick and too Worcestershirey for my taste. Added to other sauces/marinades it is pretty good though.

I packed up a couple handfuls of the SB's and still put away almost a gallon freezer bag! They're winding down and once this round of pods finishes ripening will be done. Not much longer for them all...time to start ripping them out and sterilizing soil soon. Really just growing for some care packages at this point.

The Manzano powder is still my favorite. Goes well with everything, has just enough heat for anyone, and not so much it scares folks away. I have a couple more gallons of the Yellow 7's yet to powder so I should be able to keep you smiling through winter once done. The chicken was fall off the bone fantastic! Still can't impart quite as much smokey flavor as I could with my cast iron smoker...but it was there. Momma is still on my ass, and to be honest, I'm almost ready to throw in the towel and plan for next season. Hoping to get a few more nice care packages together for some folks that had bigger troubles than me this year...then DONE!!!

Thanks for the great comments and hope your grows stay kickin as long as possible! (for you Jamie that's longer than the rest of us!)

Shane

We had to have a plumber out when out outside line backed up and they spread lime powder on teh lawn to steralize it from anything that might have gotten out. Can you use lime in the same way here or is there a more to it for what you have to deal with? How long will it be before you can use that area again?

Gorgeous loooking pods. They dont look real. The powder looks delicious. I cant even count all those pods and you said a few made the cut.   Wonderful harvest. You are well set for the winter.

Hey Shane, just have to say that out of the 5 powders I've tried of the ones you sent me, fatalii is very strong and HOT!, super-manz is super-awesome!, Red brain is tasty,.. and HOT!, yellow 7 is deeelish, pequin/ goatsweed, very nice! The jalapeno as always, great. Haven't tried Smoked 7, or yellow bhut yet, will let you know on those. Those yellow scotch bonnets are super-tasty! Let me know if you're selling any of those please. Also the yellow scorps/ 7pots. Am making pickles this weekend, you like pickles? got a jar with your name on em' if you do. I Made garlic-chili paste(tuong ot toi) from the paper lantern, red scorp x, devil's tongue, red 7's you sent me, and some orange habs off my plants, Hot and Tasty stuff I gotta say! Anyways great stuff as usual my brother.

Not related to my own grow...but kinda nuts. I heard from my guys at work here in Seal Beach that the local supermarket was now carrying Bhuts so I went by to check it out.

IMG_0200.jpg

They had about 7 containers of these dudes. While a little under ripe they seemed authentic enough. Of the 7...5 were growing mold one looked sad and this one was the only one that looked ok.

IMG_0202.jpg

These were only $2.49 a box which isn't bad considering there are 9 or 10 pods in there and if you took their orange hab price...

IMG_0203.jpg

...of 50 cents EACH you would pay $5 for 10 pods!!! Crazy??? Well considering they have dropped their prices on Manzanos to...

are you ready for this?
IMG_0207.jpg

$14 a pound!!! They were $15 last time I went in there, just plain nuts!

Cali near the beach baby, and folks pay it when there is a Mexican market 2 miles from there that has Habs for $2 a lb and Manzanos for $7.

Weeks half done folks! Gonna be doing some downsizing when I get home this weekend with my grow...hope everyone is having a great week!

Shane

lol gilroy ehhh.. i wonder which THP member lives in that area.. LDHS??? hahahah wow.. $13.99 still???? and thoes suckers are heavy....id prolly pay per pod than per lbs on that one....nice find...

Hey, Shane! Winding down in the fall is kind of a mixed feeling. Sorry
to see all the great growing and production come to a halt, but not so
bad getting a couple of months rest from constant gardening! Your
remaining plants are looking good pod-wise. You have harvested at
least two tons this summer, my friend :liar: Well, a bunch of pounds,
anyway!

Hope you get in a good weekend when it gets here. We just keep
gimping along here. Cool and nice weather alternating. As long as we
have sunny afternoons, that won't be a problem, but we are coming to
the time when it's cloudy or overcast most of the time.

See you later, my friend.

Damn, just finished the epic catch up on your glog, damn that virus crap!I had quite a busy few weeks dealing with the harvest, hurricane, and then saucing for 2 weeks straight-all while the cable company cut my interenet because I shut down the wireless router, went hardwire to the modem, and ofcourse...that changes your IP adress, and shows you as having multiple hook ups...and to get a living human on the phone vs the 32 step automated menu is almost impossible. Then the work laptop got the blue screen of death! WTF!So I brought'em their modem.....and they sure did get pleasant all of a sudden.I even got comped a month.Lucky for them they really do have wicked speed, or I would've resorted to
Ma Bell....but after checking into ATT internet speeds...that woulda sucked.I did manage a new computer-so I am cussing alot, but I'm always cussing at whatever computer I have    !
Seedwise next year.....hey,what's mine is yours.
Great to see all those awesome harvests after the virus shots, and the chow shots got me guts growling-while I'm burping "Douglah'd" Salmon!?Haha-crying in public while eating dinner-they were terrified of the plate when I finished eating-tooo funny.
The red sauce is primarily powered by Infinities/Primo's/scorps/nagas more than anything else, the yellow is a yellow 7 sauce by the way.I did manage a Brown 7/Douglah/Black Naga sauce....some of which will be headed your way when I get back to the homestead.
Gotta report or 2 to finish tonight , but I had to tend the most important business first!
cheers bro-
DJ

Seedwise next year.....hey,what's mine is yours.

That goes for me too shane!

~500 varieties of seed (mostly but not all peppers).

just let me know what you are looking for and I can probably hook you up with some seeds!

DANG, at that price you could set up a little stand out in their parking lot and sell your peppers for half what their asking and make a nice profit. That's flat crazy.
