Shane . Disreguard my pm. I was bad mouthing the USPS. And they are so good to me  . Great harvests and even greater grow.

Yes that is Conor Saugapepper. Good luck on the germination. They are tough little basturds.

Glad you got my seeds. Let me know if there is anything other seeds you desire.

Ditto here Shane, what's mine is yours! You've done nothing but right by me!!! You're one of the good guys for sure!! Can't begin to comprehend how great your grow would've been without sickness though!!( mind-boggling I'm sure.) Got some stuff headed your way in the next few days. Keep up the great job!!

Hi Shane
There's quite a lot of heat variation in those red lantern habs of yours... I had one today with a kielbasa sandwich for lunch, and it was pretty mild as i see things these days, but I cut another one onto a cheese sandwich for supper just now and it like to kicked my @%&! Good though...

Had some of your Manzano powder with the White Chicken Chili I cooked the other night. Really like the flavor and heat level on that! Took a tiny taste of the Choc. Habanero powder too. It had that "hab" smell, and the heat built for a little while. Not enough to make me panic, but enough for me to take the stuff seriously.

I'm making bowtie pasta with shrimp and broccoli tonight, and I'm thinking one of your Scotch Bonnets would go well with it.

Love the varieties I've tried so far!

Oh, BTW, did you grow Tobago Seasoning this year? If you like the Bishops Crown, I think you might like that one. Most of them are fairly mild, but some pods, or parts of the pod have a moderate amount of heat. The powder I made from it had a hab flavor to it, but only a mild to medium level heat. I also think you'd like Rain Forest, if you haven't tried it. Let me know if you'd like seeds for either of those, or anything else I'm growing for that matter.

Rick...some of those were a bit underdeveloped, could explain it. Glad you're liking the powder Bonnie! I haven't tried a Tobago Seasoning...maybe next year??? Have fun with the Scotch Bonnet. Don't be scared!

I came home last night to some surprises!
IMG_02501.jpg

First off forgot to show a pic of the awesome Applewood Smoked Blend Powder Jamie sent, it had already made it to the table and onto a burger. :fireball: That stuff is nice and sweet, BUT NO FREAKING JOKE!!! Also found me a nice surprise package from Greg (Pic1) with a huge variety of Bonnets and other Caribbeans...gonna try some of these for sure! (Grow list is already...growing!) Finally a HUGE bag of Rick's Gochu Garu powder!!! Thanks fellas! Lemme know if I can hook any of you up with anything!

Thanks for checking in folks!
Shane

Hi Shane
Most excellent collection of seeds! That should keep you busy for a couple of seasons... Glad you got the powder OK. Hope you like it... you've got enough there to make a couple of batches of cabbage kimchi if you want, or lots of whatever else. Enjoy

BTW... had some of your Pequin/Goat's Weed powder on breakfast this morning, and kicked it up a few notches. Excellent stuff, and love the burn!

ya mon.. time for some JERK marinade once you get them going.. hope my SBs (PIC1) make it thru the winter for an early start... nice powders!!
Gonna be tough to keep my grow small for sure! Good luck with yours...

Thats a terrific package you have there my man.... nice heat coming next season.
You're absolutely right! My package is :hot: !!!

Awesome package brother it shouldn't be the last one for you as I see more coming your way in the near future or month ;)
I'll never turn down a care package from Fernando! Thanks for stopping by brother!

Your gochu powder is great on almost anything! It's also not as crazy hot as the others I have around so it'll get used by the whole fam. You sent a ton for sure! Stoked my man! I go through powders real slow because I am constantly changing up the ones I use. I used some of yours on Pizza the other night and it was a perfect match! Think it'll be right at home on everything from pizza and pasta to Mexican or even some soup...thanks again brother!

Little update. Most of them are about dead now...The wilds are still kicking along with a select few others. Maybe momma is spraying them with roundup while I'm at work???

He's in front of a HUGE Wild Brazil plant...love this plant!

Think Monday will be D-day for most of the plants...I'm gonna leave a few 'till frost, but the rest are not paying the water bill with the few pods they're putting out.

Thanks for stopping in folks!
Shane

That explosive ember looks similar to the chinese 5 color I have. Very pretty! Sad to see the grow come to an end, but you'll get a fresh start for next year. When is that 1,000 mile marathon you're running again? You'll have more time to train, right?

That great your still getting some pods, but I am starting to cut back alot that will not be overwintered. She is just trying to help you, but hopefully you plants still kicking through the next two months.

Hi Shane
You know it's been a good year for chiles when you're relieved to see the end of the season so you'll have time for other things!

I'm beginning to plan next year's garden, and to that end, I saved up my pennies this summer to buy a "grow spot" led light for starting the Manzanos.

http://www.sunshine-systems.com/GrowSpot-LED-Grow-Light-p/gs-spot.htm

I got the one they call "vigorous veg", which puts out an intense blue light. We'll see how it goes... I'll be posting my observations on its utility in next year's glog.

Not to an end, but starting to thin out to only those that are really worth keeping. The 100 miler is on the 17th of November...I better start training huh???

I am getting quite a few, but the harvests are slowing for sure...no overwinters here, fresh start next season! I am going to try to keep a few of my favorites going a little longer.

Awesome! I really like my CFL's but don't think they'd be powerful enough to push any kind of production. Hope it works out. Don't get me wrong, I'd be fighting momma tooth and nail if the plants were still healthy and pumping out tons of pods, but the return on investment for both time and water are starting to make less sense. So up some must come!

You still have plenty of ripened pods left to pick...................when do you seed up for next year?

Yeah I have quite a few...I picked a bunch today, but I have been too lazy to touch the wilds. I may go out later and pull a baggie full...or maybe not!!! I will start my seeds in January, some of the wonderful seeds you sent will make the cut for sure! Probably going to go with a couple favorites from this season and the rest all new...keep it fresh!

Looks like one more harvest round. Congrats.

1 or 2...we shall see. First frost is usually around Christmas, so if we get good weather I may have some good pulls left. They're all starting to bloom and set new pods again, so I may even be able to push another round through!

So sad day around here, the thinning of the plant herd started today...
gallery_5729_13_2962699.jpg

Pulled about 30 of my in ground plants including a couple Chocolate Bhuts, a couple Bhuts, all my Bells and Big Jims...many more :mope:

The suffering wasn't limited to the inground plants...
gallery_5729_13_168982.jpg

Also pulled 12 container plants off the drip system.

Never all bad here though!
gallery_5729_18_5051169.jpg

Time to catch up on the powdering!

Every time I clear a little room in one of the freezers this happens!!!
gallery_5729_13_386214.jpg

:shh: Momma's at work gotta find a place to put these quick!!!

gallery_5729_13_3458388.jpg

The Brains...minus a couple I found hiding in the cooler!

gallery_5729_13_1955687.jpg

These still got some decent size to them...the plant is loaded with flowers, think I'll let this one hang around a while.

gallery_5729_13_4015430.jpg

The Scotch Bonnets...

gallery_5729_13_398677.jpg

Manzanos...

gallery_5729_13_2661732.jpg

Bishop's Crowns...have about twice this many that didn't make the photo op. Plants are NUTS! I have no idea how tall my inground plant is anymore??? It over took the 6' stake and is drooping almost back to the ground so 10+ feet??? Just plain crazy! 1 of these plants is PLENTY!

Maybe a couple bonus non-pepper related pics if I get a bump pretty quick!

Thanks for stopping by everyone!
Shane

No plants Pia...just a couple shots of some soil sterilizing. (I hope???)

So I am trying to cook sterilize my potting soil. I think if I can get the temp over 125 F the virus will cook out, so here is what I am trying first...
gallery_5729_13_2721029.jpg

9 Containers worth of soil...

gallery_5729_13_2752010.jpg

Raked flat on plastic...would have been better on black plastic but its what I had.

gallery_5729_13_1171714.jpg

Cover with some more plastic and we shall see how hot it can get??? Very small air gap. I may have to adjust that a bit to optimize the GH effect...

Here are the non-pepper pics I was talking about. Some training shots from the past few weeks...

This one's for you Pia!!!

All the way to Australia!!!

Thanks for checkin in everyone!!! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Nice update shane. I haven't been keeping up with glogs a whole bunch lately. A question or three for you. This virus came from seed?
I see that it is affecting potted and inground plants... How do you think it spread from ground to pot? Leaves touching, pests, or do you think the infected plants all came from infected seeds? How are you going to treat the ground? Good luck with your training! I will try to stay current in the future.
