Testifying to the 7 Pot

always were gloves and remember to change them every few minutes as most are still a bit porous, I double glove with nitrile medical gloves, especially if your handling large amounts of pods.
pubescens are nasty I noticed as they are juicy I cut one open and it squirted juice up into my face. very unpleasant.

Have you or anyone else on here used anything more heavy duty? How about those yellow house cleaning gloves?

I use those with anything stronger than generic habs. Gotta beware though, most of them are cheap and really thin...mine are old-skool ones that are very thick.

Only drawback is some loss of good dexterity, but even so those can fail me.

My "evil hab" Burkinas (think same as RB's but more orange) made my hands ache for about 40 minutes after doing up about a pound of 'em WITH those gloves on. And washing with dishsoap throughly after.

Problem is, capsaicin goes right into your skin..once it touches, you can't just wash it off...it has to be nutralized just like pepperspray. :)

Evil, evil, mean chillis!

tippy & gnildir can attest to their fearsome power. :)

LOL You would think y'all never heard of rubber gloves!
The 7 pot (or pod) is a nice pepper, great taste, slow
burn, large plants, nice production, but the burn only
lasts 30 minutes or so. Its really not that hot!:)

Maybe surgical gloves would work. Thin enough for the dexterity but obviously strong and non-porous so capsaicin wouldn't seep through...anyone have a surgical supply store in their vicinity?

Yeah, I thought they were kinda mild Butch now that you say it. lol. :) Nice to see you here again. You too were responsible for spreadign endless pain across the world! :)

Yeah! Today endless pain hit my house! My letter from Canada arrived! Some super hot powder with some seeds in it! Thank you so much, Sheldon!
I will scan or photograph and post the cards later.

Tigahb8 and cmpman1974, if you guys consider the 7 pot not that hot and mild what peppers do you consider hot, hotter and hottest? Thanks.

They're just messing with you Patrick. There is nothing hotter and if it was you couldn't eat it. When I deseed my peppers it is like I'm eating steak, with a knife and fork. I do not touch the pepper if I cannot help it. When I do get capsaisin on my hands I've had very good luck washing with Dial Complete Foaming Hand Wash.

Yep I do the same. The juices still end up spraying up. Well I usually cannot feel them but even after I thoroughly wash my hands I always end up feeling it later if I touch my eyes.

Yeah, I'm a little slow with the emoticons winking and such. I'll catch up--I hope.

I was wondering what kind of being could eat a 7 pot and say it's mild.

Hey! I'm glad to know that you got those seeds Armadillo. That's fantastic. Thanks for letting me know. I'll be looking forward to the seven pot porn next season.

its called quick orange and the answer is not at all.

I've often wondered if maybe that de-greasing deep cleanser meant for mechanics would work. I can't remember what it's called, I had a tube of it a long time ago. You use it without water and just rub it in. I remember that it smelled like oranges. I should go to a hardware store and get a tube to have on hand.

There will be a lot of porn if the growing season improves. 7 Pot, Bhut Jolokia, Choc Hab and other habs, Rocotto, Tepin, Tabasco, Cayenne.... Maybe a Fatalii if those local chiliheads here have a good germination ratio. They didn't provide seeds cos' they had so few but will give me a plant if all their seeds will sprout. Anything you would be looking for?

Yes! That's right! Quick Orange. But it doesn't work? That's too bad...I was seriously going to get some to test it. Any other industrial strength hand de-greaser that might work?

7 pod(pot)s are very very hot and the heat will stay on your hands
no matter what you wash them with! I have tried to be careful with
no gloves, they always seem to find a way onto my hands and wherever
my hand touches I get a burning sensation. As far as being "Not That
Hot" its just a catch phrase I use to get people to try them ;) and
since the burn is a illusion created by the capsicum, its true!
BTW Sally's Beauty Supplies has box's of 100 vinyl gloves on sale for
$4.99.

If I have questions about eating a pod I have to give them a little better warning but that quote of yours is priceless.

As far as I'm concerned the 7 is the king of all peppers. When you finally try a 7 Pod you'll never look for a hotter pepper.
