Ok, this one, yeah.

Ok, not really. With the bend in the end, I bet it's a pain to wash well.

actually i have to agree on barefoot. i take off my shoes and socks as soon as i sit down when i get home. don't really notice when i'm out doing things..once i arrive back at the house and am trying to relax, i notice almost first thing.

to clean that thing, you probably just need a scrubber on a long handle. looks like you might be able to fit an arm most of the way down as it is...though the scale of the picture is not really known.

I've already seen (read: killed) quite a number of redbacks (black widows) and it's not even summer yet. I don't mind the bugs because they taste nice!

you need to start cultivating your skinks, geckos & magpies, they love the eggs & newly spawned redbacks.

Did have something strip down to the stem 3 Basil plants & my unworthy gatekeeper pepper plant overnight yesterday...most other things have holes in the leaves. Can't find any culprits. Must be big...thats a lot of salad it/they went through.

Ahh yes, I love the smell of a resurrected thread.

My son was too scared to go to bed because of a bug, after much discussion I had to go look.

Thats a 1' ruler by the way. Any bigger I'd bbq it.

So, are they good for the garden? As in, do they eat the bad bugs? And do they sting or bite people, or do they just look scary?

They're not built like meat eaters but I think they'll take out a moth or small lizard.
They don't bite or have the barbed legs. Really creepy though lol

nice! it's been a bit too cold here lately for inverts. :( it's warming up though. i've seen a couple spiders in our house..nothing too big. i miss my little friends.

***Screams*** Now my curiosity has gotten the better of me I'm going to have nightmares... I am so glad that I live here where we get winter, that tends to keep the huge bugs out.

yup - they all look like that..always have. I mean when they're new you dont recognise them, but after a year of ruler sword fights and getting scribbled all over, it actually brings back memories just to look at.

You can get plastic bendy ones that you can almost roll up but a lot of schools ban them because they're perfect for flicking rubbers and other various things with. You could never draw a straight line with the wooden rulers, your pencil would bump up and down against the notches.

We had a kid in our class who's dad got him a brass ruler. That thing was indestructible.

He could turn wooden rulers into sawdust.

Everyone respected that kid.
