food-bev The Drunken Chef

Paul I want to thank you for the inspiration for some egg rolls. I didn't take assembly pictures, or even filling pictures, but I wanted to show you that I made them. I made these strictly in the cast iron. A half lb of ground pork, 3/4lb of chopped shrimp, two cups cabbage, 1/2 cup carrots, 1/4 cup red onion, 1 tsp ginger (all shredded), cup of bean sprouts, 2Tbs Mae Ploy Thai sweet chili sauce. Next time I am going to add soy sauce too. It made 24 I think. Served with sweet and sour sauce and srirachi. Couldn't bring da heat on the filling as the Mrs is eating them. I do have a bottle of naga sauce here to pour on them though.

I bought them the wrappers. Thanks, I wish I had thought sooner to get the camera so I could have shown the filling. It was all just stirfried. The browning is probably due to the peanut oil in the cast iron. Man they cook fast! Again, thanks for the inspiration Paul. This was my first time with these and I will definitely be making them again.

Paul takes a deep bow...

See! they're so damn easy to make....and $ for $ you can feed a lot more people with these than with chicken wings. Not that the two are interchangeable!;)

yeah I think this cost me about $7 for 24 of them. I like them and they really are easy. Tedious but easy. Now as far as wings are concerned, I LOVE wings. These definitely aren't replacing them.

Nope...but they'd go really well together on say:

A Superbowl snack tray?;)

still drunk from yesterday. Foggy head ALL DAY. It was the last night of my pool league for a while and there were many pitchers. I just wanted to post it here since this is where Paul's was. Fail I suppose.

Well, at first I thought that this post needed moved to the Cooking With Fire, since there wasn't any indication that alcohol was involved...But, Jay you have redeemed yourself since you were clearly so drunk, you weren't of right mind. So, I agree! WIN!!!
