I voted for (Insert other).....and that 'other' is IGLOO...

I have flogged it over the past few months on top heat and the g/f dries fruit, tomatoes and herbs in it every second day and it is still going strong.....

mine is a 10 tray version with the fan at the back and a variable thermostat..

Cheers

I voted Other - mine is an Ezi-Dri (aka Harvest Maid) with 1000 watts variable thermostat. I've had it 8 yrs and while it's use has been sporadic it has performed admirably. I recently purchased another 5 trays making 10 in total, it will let me expand to 30 trays if I wish. when the day comes that the motor gives out I simply buy a new one and can still use all my trays and mesh sheets that I currently own.

I would consider the Harvest Maid a "nesco" type, just like the cheap ones without fans are often referred to as "Mr. coffee" type. Different companies seem to just throw different names on the same or very similar products.
I' quite happy with my nesco but I'm looking for a more commercial model for next season.

Ronco is the piece of shite my wife got at Target.

Unbelieveable waste of $. I seriously considered taking it apart and adding a fan somehow.

I picked up a STX DEHYDRA 600W from Ebay for just under $100. Fan in the back, 10 trays, thermostat. I'm confident it will do the job it's designed for.

As far as recommending it I would if you're looking for something inexpensive. I don't think it's one that's going to last a lifetime though as it's mostly made out of plastic.

LOL, no, during the summer I just place the stuff in tin pie plates in the back of my car. It get's hot enough and dried 'em.

I've heard that about some folks in southern NM doing that.....it was called the "dashboard dehydrator".

I don't know about chillis but for jerky i just use my fan forced oven on the lowest setting, works good if you rotate the trays.

most normal people would of told their wife to return it or returned it themselves, instead of keeping it.
